I was a deaf student in school who got bullied for being "different".
Sailor Moon was the only thing that kept me going back then. She basically showed me that anybody could be a hero, even if they weren't perfect. Back then, the animated heroes were usually perfect adults who always excelled at everything. So
Sailor Moon really stood out for me. That show always cheered me up every time I had a bad day. and thanks to it, I made a lot of friends online in the fandom that lasted a long time, and still have those friends today.

I made this because of how important Sailor Moon is to me. I am who I am because of her story. She's my hero and I try to be as caring as she is everyday and never give up. When I was young, I was bad in school, had a few friends, and didn't know who I was. My friend lent me her Sailor Moon VHS and I was in love. I read and watched all I could, because of that I improved in school, with my friends, and I became who I wanted to be, a loving person.

Sailor Moon was one of several shows that acted as a gateway for me getting into anime. What I will always remember it most for, however, is this book. Dungeons & Dragons never clicked with me in high school, but trying a tabletop RPG with something I had a frame of reference for made me fall in love with such games. This kicked off a life long hobby creating some of my favorite memories and bringing me to meet some of my closest friends. Here's to our unfinished Negaverse Campaign, seems you won this time Sailor Moon!

The year is 199X... and I already knew what kind of lady I wanted to be.
I want to be strong, unafraid to speak my mind, and to fight evil and protect the weak.
I wanted to be Sailor Mars.
The year is 201X... and I am still working to become that perfect lady.
I am stronger, unafraid to speak my mind, and I fight against the daily obstacles as an adult.
I still want to, and work towards, being Sailor Mars.
Some parts of childhood will never die, but keep shaping us.

I became a fashion designer because of
Sailor Moon. My unique drawing style and aesthetic are all thanks to
Naoko Takeuchi!

Sailor Moon was my first anime. It started me on the path of being able to accept myself, no matter how much of a cry baby I was. Usagi, and her flaws, inspired me to become something bigger, something better. Something magical. Sailor Moon made me believe in the possibilities, how I could go from a school girl one day – to a Moon Princess the next. Not to mention, I happened to find my very own Tuxedo Mask along the way.

Sailor Moon was the first anime I ever watched and my first loved anime. I always would get up early to watch it as a kid. Sailor Moon came to be the best role model to the type of woman I wanted to become. The show means so much to me and I wouldn't be the same without Sailor Moon in my life, she showed me how to be strong and how to be there for your friends.

Sailor Moon was the first anime series I had ever seen and like so very many in the 90's I quickly grew obsessed with it and and so many other shows. Being a bit of an outcast and loner I found comfort in my art. I had always interested in drawing and I wasn't too bad before prior tommy introduction but SM is what made me what I am today. I also devoloped a love of writing. As an Aries, I owe all the creativity I have today to Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon laid the social and creative foundation of my life. She is the reason I bonded with strangers, classmates in my unfamiliar 6th grade class. She provided me a way to relate to them, people so unlike me, so that we could be comrades in school and friend at home. I was no longer alone. After learning social confidence I was able to focus on creating myself and my dreams. Her story opened my eyes to how exciting stories can be, and I soon fell in love with writing. Thanks to her, I am now published, fulfilling a dream.

Sailor Moon was the first animated program that spoke to me. I loved the diverse characters, the fact the leads were dominated by female characters, and the art inspired me to learn that style. I have been drawing for over 10 years, and it was what got me started. I recently revisited my inspiration to draw a picture for the 20th anniversary. My tribute to a great muse.

20 years ago, I came across the anime series while living in Texas, discovering the extent of the
franchise when I moved to Singapore. The manga dominated my early interest in art, leading to a passionate career in comics and animation. I bonded with my first love while watching the live action series, teaching ourselves the hand movements of each senshi. I recently tattooed the cosmic broach to my chest, and I am thrilled with the current renaissance we're all about to experience.
Sailor Moon has been a consistent light that has influenced the core of my life and interests.

My first time cosplaying from Sailor Moon was nerve wracking. Sailor Moon had always been my favorite show ever since I was a kid. She was my idol, someone I wanted to grow up to be. An inspiration to those around her, and a great friend. This little girl was the first person to run up to me while dressed and ask for a hug. She whispered in my ear, "You're my hero Sailor Moon!" I have never felt so happy in my life. I try to live every day trying to make those around me happy.

Cosplay I had just moved. I had no friends within a hundred miles of me, and I was very very lonely. I started working on a
Sailor Moon cosplay, watching the show along the way to keep me from going mad.
Sailor Moon has always been my favorite show, mostly because of the friendship the scouts shared in every episode. I wore the finished
cosplay to a meetup for a local anime club, and met some of my closest friends at that meetup!
Sailor Moon saved me from my loneliness, and I'm forever grateful.

Here is an original poem I wrote about what Sailor Moon means to me:
Sailor Moon,
You taught me and inspired me so much,
taught me to never give up,
to never lose hope, even when its tough,
taught me love is most important in life,
You gave me courage when I was afraid,
Inspired me to be the best I can be,
taught me if you work together you can do anything,
to be kind to everyone,
and that we are only alone if we believe we are.

Sailor Moon is the show that saved my life. At the beginning of this year, I fell into a major depression and nothing could save me. I thought about putting an end to my life many times, but
Sailor Moon showed me that our friends are always with us and that love is always near us, even in the saddest moments. When I saw that
Viz Media licensed the show, I was beyond happy! I feel in my heart that it is a reward granted to me for staying alive. Thank you Usagi!!!!

Sailor Moon showed me a range of women who were strong and brave. They didn't fit the mold of other women I had seen in cartoons/anime at that time in my life. It gave me the courage to be headstrong, brave, and reinforced my dad's message growing up, “You don't need a man to save you, but don't be afraid or too stubborn to ask for help if you need itâ€. Even as an adult I have the original Sailor Moon CD on my Zune to pump me up.

Since my high school circle was several girls and one guy, we sometimes compared ourselves to the Senshi. When one of us, who was very artistic, died of cancer this year, I got a tablet so I could learn to draw. I want to draw something like this scene, with all of us as Senshi. She would be Usagi, the guy would be Mamoru, I would be Makoto, etc. I hope to be good enough to do it justice by the one year anniversary of her death. (I still have a long way to go, but I'm slowly improving.)

The Sailor Moon is a lot of happiness for me, because thanks to the Sailor Moon I find my loved one!
So this way the most interesting and biggest thing I got from Sailor Moon is my family!
I met my husband Zodd at an Anime/Sailor Moon chat site in 2003.
Our love is still strong as a love of Serenity and Endymion. ' ^____^
Our first little Chibiusa (Hanna) is born at 2005, then in 2013 born our little Chibi Mamo-chan (Benedek) too! J
I can also thanks a lot of other things, but for me this is the most precious thing.

I grew up with
Toonami and it was Moltar who introduced me to the Scouts back in '98. Every day I fell more in love with the show. But then, in 2002… Silence.
Sailor Moon vanished for over a decade. Since then, I've hoarded all the merchandise I could find, trying to reclaim my memories of the old days. It may be heresy to love the English versions as much as I do, but one thing remains constant for any edit of the show… When the transformation sequence starts to roll, I feel the tingling sensation of nostalgia. Every time.

I don't think I would've chosen the career path I took if it wasn't for this show. It captured my imagination--and the animation is just so beautiful for its time. The show made me believe in love and justice, and I loved the adventures the crew took. The beauty of the show and its story helped me realize as I grew older that animation is what I want to do. I am now studying to be a 3D animator—and some of my projects have even been explicitly stated to be inspired by this wonderful anime.

Sailor Moon inspired me to start drawing anime more and to continue with it even when my mental illnesses started getting worse... She inspired me to get better and to continue to show my strength through art even when things were looking their worst. Even today, if I'm feeling down, I put one of the Sailor Moon DVDs on, pick up a pencil, and immediately start feeling better and more like myself again. I owe Naoko Takeuchi so much for saving my art life, as well as my mental health, and that is what Sailor Moon means to me.

100 words is never enough for me to explain why Sailor Moon means so much! The main reason Sailor Moon remains a big part of who I am today is because I'm convinced that I am actually Usagi Tsukino. I can easily say Sailor Moon helped and inspire me to follow the dream of getting accepted into my dream college. Usagi and I both would have cried and whined about being afraid and we would have our friends there to support us through it all. Sailor Moon taught me that being weak does not mean you can't overcome an accomplishment!

I was 14 when Sailor Mon aired in France for the first time. I had no friends and was heavily bullied at the time for being “poorer, fatter and gayer†than most guys in my school. My only consolation was that every Wednesday afternoon, I would come home and watch Sailor Moon. I would then spend the afternoon drawing sailors and this led me to study Art and find a career and solace in it, meet moonie friends all over the country and aspire to be a good person. In other words, you could say Sailor Moon saved me.

Sailor Moon showed me that a mother's love never dies and to never give up hope. I lost my mom when I was four, same year
Sailor Moon aired in America. In s1 we see Queen Serenity sacrifice her life to save her family and kingdom out of love. This theme is repeated in the second season with Chiba Usa when Neo Queen Serenity is willing to sacrifice her life for her and in the
Sailor Moon R movie when Chiba Usa says that
Sailor Moon will save everyone because
Sailor Moon is everyone's mother.
Sailor Moon gives me hope!

Thanks to Sailor Moon I met many friends, but especially my best friend and sister. We were in high school, freshman year, and she saw me drawing SM fanart. We would pretend she was Usagi and I was Rei. That was over 15+ years ago and we're still besties. SM also expanded my reach in anime and learning to draw anime/manga. I even made a cosplay of Princess Mars (my character is Hino Rei) I can honestly say that Sailor Moon has influenced my life in a wonderful and beautiful way.

Sailor Moon has been my role model since I was 5. She taught me that no matter how weak you think you are, you can be stronger as long as you believe in the love of your friends and family and have the ability to conquer through any struggle that may come your way. When I'm feeling down, I look for the moon at night to remind me of her story because her unconditional love towards all her relationships with others always made me happy. She helps me believe in myself to become stronger when I need to be.
Elizabeth "Sailor Venus"
My best friend introduced me to Sailor Moon before it even started airing in the USA and it changed my life forever! Sailor Moon was my gateway anime. I'd never even heard of anime before. I fell in love with the series instantly. That led to me exploring other animes. Now I go to at least one anime themed convention every year. All the friends I have today I have met because of my love for Sailor Moon and anime. Before Sailor Moon I didn't have any friends and was very depressed and lonely. Sailor Moon saved my life!

Sailor Moon has always been a part of my life. When I was in Elementary school, I didn't have many friends. But it didn't matter because Sailor Moon was my best friend and I played that I was a princess of the moon on the playground every day at school. Now that I'm older, the first time I ever cosplayed, it was as Sailor Moon! I made the costume myself-it sucked, but I was really proud to be Sailor Moon for a day.

Sailor Moon is a way for me to show my daughter that girls can be strong. We all know that the Scouts save Tuxedo Mask more times than he saves them! Girls can be smart, strong, compassionate, capable. Girls can fight for what they believe in. This is what Sailor Moon means to me and I will share this with my daughter.

When I was little, I had a tough childhood. My dad passed away when I was 6 and I was bullied for my whole school career. I would watch Sailor Moon everyday after school, and it gave me the power to stay strong. Even when it felt like there was no hope for me at all, because the Sailor Scouts never gave up. I still love Sailor Moon to this day because of what the show did for me. I was so inspired by the show, that I came up with my own scouts to represent my hope.
[email protected] I started watching when I was six,
Sailor Moon has always held a huge place in my heart. Usagi taught me to be strong, and most of all be myself. That even crybaby, clumsy, sweets loving, normal girls can be heros. To always stand up for love, justice, and what you believe in. It okay to doubt yourself, in the end it is friendship that matters. I hold all these lessons to my heart, and will pass them on to future generations. "For love & Justice! A pretty soldier in a sailor suit!
Sailor Moon!"

When my sister and I were kids, watching Sailor Moon, we wanted desperately to be Sailor Scouts. The above picture is the attempt my sister and I made to become Scouts. Our parents didn't have a lot of money, but they did the best they could for us. We got leotards with attached skirts, white evening gloves, and tiaras. We dressed up for Halloween, but we always played games and pretended that we had the powers. We would spend summers jumping into the pool in the attack or transformation poses—the most feasible way we could do them.

If it wasn't for
Sailor Moon, I wouldn't of met my girlfriend and moved from Michigan to San Antonio, Texas for her. I know it's crazy but it really did happen. All because she was one of my
YouTube subscribers and I had
Sailor Moon on there.

Sailor Moon helped me through many tough times in my life. It brought me and my sister closer together through our
Sailor Moon fan-art and fan-fiction, and it made me inspired to follow my dream as an artist (see attached picture!)

As a small girl, Sailor Moon was my first obsession. Everything from the strong and loving female characters, to the power they found in their friendship inspired me day to day. I would spend hours pouring over the manga and the anime, sketchbook by my side, trying to draw my favorite scouts. That fascination with beautiful art and strong female role models has led me to become the illustrator and creator that I am today. Sailor Moon has continued to inspire me so much throughout my life, that I'm even making my very own magical girl cartoon this year!

Sailor Moon has greatly impacted my life. Without this group of magical heroines, I wouldn't be doing what I am today. Long story short, I am working towards a career where I will have a chance to expose future generations to the wonders of art. I am studying to be an art teacher and it's all thanks to my love of Sailor Moon that I am on this track. Sailor Moon inspired me to begin drawing so I could one day turn art into a career. Fourteen years later, I am six months away from being a licensed art educator.

Sailor Uranus taught me how to be an adult: don't sweat the small stuff, move forward without regret, and live for something bigger than yourself.
Also, when in doubt, sparkle.

Sailor Moon has been my hero since I was 13 years old, I've drawn countless Sailor Moon artworks, and nothing cheers me up so much then watching Sailor Moon. I made my own Sailor Venus cosplay costume complete with home-made Artemis last year! I am also happy to report my favorite person, Andy, my 9 year-old nephew watches Sailor Moon with me, it's such a fun thing to share, and I am bringing the love to a brand new generation! **phone ringing, Sailor Moon theme song ring tone, call from boyfriend, ignore but still listen to song while continuing entry**

When I was a kid,
Sailor Moon was among the first animes I've watched.
Sailor Moon depicted life in interesting way until to the extent that I've always wanted a Moon Stick for myself (It took me years to realize that it is not going to happen). One of the strongest inspirations from
Sailor Moon series is the
Key of Space and Time. Such magical key that able to unlock the space and time and it gave me strong influence on the idea of freedom. Later, I bought myself a key necklace, for me to unlock my own freedom.

Sailor Moon has always been a big part of my life. When I was about 10 I cosplayed as Tuxedo Mask because he was my favorite character. During school I was teased a lot for being such a big fan of the show, people would tell me it was only for girls but that never bothered me much. Now I'm 18 and Sailor Moon still holds a very special place in my heart. Sailor Moon taught me to love, be happy and be kind and I will always love this show. Thank you Sailor Moon for bringing me happiness everyday.

I was first introduced to Sailor Moon at age six. Seeing a female super hero that is a bit of a goober and not afraid to show her emotions changed my life, because I myself am a cry-baby and a klutz. As a kid, seeing that Serena could fight crime, and still be a girly girl made me think, "Why not me?" As an adult I still cosplay as my favorite Sailor Scout, and know my girlfriend have my back. While working in the game industry I've pushed myself harder because Sailor Moon has taught me to do my best.
Tsuki Neni
Sailor Moon is my inspiration to write stories. Usagi herself is my motivation to be good person and is a representation of my hope in humanity. I was also a very lonely child, with a lack of real friends. Sailor Moon was something that helped me cope with that loneliness. It was Sailor Moon that connected me with people that made me realize what "true friends" were.
It is my first love.
Magical Girls Grow Up
Sailor Moon was the first show I watched where I didn't feel forced to pick "the girl" (the one girl) as my favorite character. There was more than one character I could relate to, and they were all distinct individuals, not just tropes or decoration or two-dimensional caricatures defined only by boys and shopping.
It opened my eyes. I needed that then, and we still need that now.
Bunny
As a gay 10-year-old, the only superhero I could relate to was Sailor Moon. She gave me hope when no one else could. She saved me from depression when no one else listened. Without her, my imagination would have never flourished. Without her, I would have died. Usagi's cheerful disposition was the way I wanted to live. Even though she is not "real", to me her strength and emotions are what make her real. Without her, I would not have the courage to be myself in a society where I am taught to hate myself. She loved me for me.
Erika Schade
I used to watch Sailor Moon every day religiously and draw a picture of a scene from that episode. It was perfect practice and has truly made an impact on my style of artwork now. Also I can say (as an insecure preteen and onward) that the flaws in the characters made me realize that the flaws within myself were okay. They added to my overall personality, not detracted from it. I still to this day love SM with all my heart.
Sade Wilson
Sailor Moon was the first anime I had ever seen and Serena has been my hero since I was a child. I remember telling my mom when I grew up I wanted to be Sailor Moon. The lessons I learned watching Sailor Moon have made me into the person I am today. I learned that I could be a "clumsy cry baby" and still be a strong super hero. I learned what true friendship and true love looks like within yourself and others. But, most of all I learned how to be myself and fight for what I believe in.

Sailor Moon Is important to me because it taught me to believe in the power of love, to never give up, and that good will always triumph over evil. Usagi is a continuous inspiration because even though she is not perfect, and a bit of a complainer, she has the strength and love to save everyone. My piece for this contest is Sailor Moon Make-up! The make-up evolves with her wands/suits in each season.
Taylor M.
To me, Sailor Moon means that being a woman does not equal weakness. That having a nurturing side does not mean lack of strength. It means that in a world of greed, love and friendship always come first. And they will always triumph over evil.

As a kid I met Ami Mizuno, who was also extremely shy, passionate about learning, and made the best grades possible. Nobody else could understand my deep drive to succeed at school like she did. Her transformation into a brave, caring, and loyal soldier despite her fears and anxiety influenced me to be more accepting of myself and to not let bullying affect me anymore. She showed me that us smart kids are very important to society, even if the other kids didn't recognize it. Years later I am proud to be able to cosplay this very special character!
