Seeing them license Haifuri was kinda out of the blue as I was expecting them to get Magi or Kiznaiver rather than that.

They might be saving the bigger announcements or such for Anime Boston or Sakura con. I watched the stream and it was a very enjoyable stream and pretty good job for their first one but the total view count was barely over 400 if I remember correctly and I remember during the second half there was only about 70 active viewers so a con is probably a better place to announce things.

I just hope whatever they license they actually have plans to release on home media and not let just let the license rot like Aniplex has done with a few other titles Anime hyper

I was kind of looking forward to Hai-Furi, but Aniplex... Oh well, I'm sure someone else will have a show for me to watch and buy.

I totally didn't expect that Aniplex of America would end up grabbing Hai-Furi. Shocked Well, that pretty much kills any chance of it having an English version one day...

Can somebody please remind me why Asterisk War got second season when Chivalry of the Failed Knight did not?

^ Unless you're being sarcastic, that's how things were from the very beginning. The show was already slated for a two cour series, so yeah. Chivalry deserves one more season, though.

I still can't believe I'm looking forward to the Asterisk War S2. And Hai-Furi seems to be entertaining and cute.

Unfortunately for the fans of some titles (like Samumenco, Nanana, Mekaku) Aniplex USA has apparently decided to not do home releases for them. I assume they are probably thinking that those titles would not sell enough copies to warrant a physical release. I am usually a proponent of AoA, but not doing physical releases for all they licensed titles seems like a mistake.

And I also think AoA is announcing Kiznaiver at a later date. Unless Funimation paid a ton of money for it, AoA is not passing on a title from the creators of Kill la Kill.

Those are all 2014 shows, though, right? So theoretically at least we could still see them put something out. Sentai's just getting some of their Summer and Fall 2014 shows out now, and even Funimation still has about half a dozen shows from 2014 that they haven't announced any release plans for yet (most notably Barakamon).

Yeah those titles were essentially what caused me to make my remark. Nanana not getting a phyical release still hurts as it will probably never =/ I certainly understand not giving a show a dub if its something that's niche and wouldn't sell enough copies to justify it but not even a barebones sub only release is really sad as a huge physical media enthusiast that I am. I own quite a bunch of AoA titles as well but its sad to see them license stuff and then do nothing with it as I'd take a sub only DVD (World Conquest, Oreshura etc...) over nothing at all. Then their back catalog of rescue's I'd love to see get released/rereleased. (Would kill for a Rurouni Kenshin bluray or rerelease Anime cry haha)

Theoretically, yes, there's a small chance their current home video-less titles could get a release, but remember that Aniplex works on a different model than Sentai or Funimation. While either of those have to wait years to solicit releases for a title, generally Aniplex gets a home video release solicited within a quick turnaround time. So because of that model, those titles that have been now 2 years (Mekakucity Actors, Mushishi, Nanana) and those that have been even longer (Samurai Flamenco), as each month passes, that slim chance just gets slimmer.

a shame really, I'd have shelled out greatly for a Mushishi BD release.

Uhm. Asterisk War was already announced to have 2 cours. Besides that, 2 anime with totally diffrent teams behind it. Asterisk War is from Aniplex itself, they are in the production committee.

Personally i think Chivalry of the Failed Knight will get a second season. Also i think Sentai is going to dub it this or next year.

Small correction, they've actually done streams before, but it was through Youtube, not Twitch (that is what they did it on this time, right?).

THe view count was similarly low on Youtube, about 350 or so. So yeah, con's better to announce bigger things.

Darnit, and I was looking forward to Haifuri too, and hopefully owning it. Looks like streaming will be my only option now.

I wish Aniplex USA would put all their dubbed shows on Hulu. I usually watch 4 episode halves at a time (2 for 2 epi.) so I can get through a show quicker. However, I can't do that with Netlix unless I use more than one browser. I can watch those halves on 1 browser with Hulu.

I'm not very sure about AoA's situation but I think they might worry about if such a home release can't attract many Westerners to buy, then making such release would not just be unprofitable, but also damage the revenue of the Japanese Aniplex since some Japanese customers might choose to import the much cheaper western version?
