I don't even know if they're selling ticketes. I've looked everywhere for ticket information, but I can't even get information on the venue.

This is a club, which sounds pretty much like where DAI played. It will hold a few hundred people. Of course they know exactly what they're doing, and probably the only reason why you're probably not paying a cover is because Island is footing the bill. You don't sell tickets to a promotional event, which is exactly what this is.

Guess who's getting arrested for using a fake ID to get in, intention to drink or not?

I think they lost that benefit of the doubt after "Exodus" failed to find an audience.

As far as putting on this show, not marketing Utada herself, I mean that mohawk alone.....
She has found an audience, it's just a very small one in the club scene. Maybe with her next album she'll decide to do the far more sophisticated music she does in Japan instead of the more Radio Disney bubblegum on Exodus

How disappointing... yet another concert held at a club in New York -_- Oh well, perhaps depending on how this is recieved, maybe it'll determine if Utada will hold a larger concert in the future.

Are you sure you have to be 21 to order tickets? Perhaps it's only to enter the contest. :/
Anyhow, I'd also like to mention the Psycho Le Cemu (Visual Kei, but still) is performing at Megacon this year, in Orlando, Florida. The 27th of this month, I believe...
Still not Utada, but for the southeast, it's a start (I WANT NOUBU! YOU HEAR ME WORLD?! FINAL FANTASY CONCERT SOMEWHERE IN THE SOUTHEAST!)

Ok, the only way I'd go to this concert would be if they are NOT perfoming any songs from Exodus. If they are, screw it, I wouldn't go. Now if it was stuff from her Japanese albums, I'd say point me at those tickets.

21 to enter the contest. But, since they're requiring that, I can only assume it's a 21-over club, with alcohol.

Anyone who goes should expect almost exclusively Exodus
I went to see Dreams Come True on their US tour, I was the only white guy in the place, and I had a sign that had "Japanese please" in kana/kanji, and they still only did one song in J.
People complaining about the clubs, you do realize that with the exception of anime cons, virtually every J-act has played clubs here in the US, most of which require you to be 21 because of the alcohol. There is simply not a big enough audience yet to justify larger venues which are astronomically more expensive, and not subsidized by the place wanting to sell you drinks. No matter how much you claim the audience is bigger, it's simply not, not yet. 5 years from now, I believe we'll be talking a different story with all of the TV, anime, and game exposure. Remember that it took anime almost 20 years from the start of major fandom to hit the mainstream. These things take time.

You know, people in California have gotten tons of great acts playing there over the years, B'z being a huge one in my book whose shows seemed populated almost exclusively by Japanese fans coming in for the show. People whine all the time when bands play places other than CA, but they don't go when they do, least in my experience. Why are bands playing places outside of Cali? Because people have gone through the major effort to get them there, and they draw the domestic numbers. If you want the acts to play your town, get to work getting them booked instead of complaining on message boards.

Wah, so far away and while I'm still in school too. But it's rather amazing to see more Japanese music artists having concerts on their own terms. =3

Although I have no experience in that field, I can only imagine that is easier said then done. Additionally, it'll be even more difficult for a regular high school student to "get to work getting them booked". Besides, if you live in a small town, the likelihood of convincing the artist's company to host an event there is nil -- since concerts are supposed to benefit/promote the artist, not just the audience.
