App seems kinda dumb but the new rewards program is fire. You can get coupons or even dlc/wallpapers as well as physical stuff

I am kind of disappointed about this but it does appear to be interesting. Guess I will wait to find out more.

I wonder if this is an actual communication app or Tomodachi Life Lite.

It reminds me more of the voting wiiware app on the wii. Interesting, but not really a game.

Definitely looking forward to the new my Nintendo though. Hope they have some neat swag.

Apparently, the stock market didn't look what they hear from the news release, and send Nintendo stock down by 9%, and the market reaction was just 5 minutes into the release!

Anyway, I am not surprised by Nintendo being quite cautious. It is almost Nintendo tradition that they don't release anything unless they are comfortable with the quality. However, The stock market wants more quicker instant gratification and results. It is said nowadays that there are word analytic software that can automatically read words from press conferences and financial reports, and make automatic decisions in shorting or buying shares.

That smart phone game sounds INCREDIBLY lame. I wonder how they'll implement paid for features, seeing as the only way to make good money off mobile games is to get people to buy in game items for real money.

I think Nintendo should have waited a bit longer before announcing their Miitomo smartphone app. The stockholders went ballistic just moments after it was brought up, resulting in a $2.48 billion loss of their market cap.

I have seen large caps wiping out more than 10% in a day more than a few times. That kind of thing happens quite regularly. There was a news article earlier in this year that "Warren Buffett lost blah blah billion in one day" (because Coke and IBM shares tanked on the same day) Things could have been worse Wink

Also "paper" unrealised loss is not the same actual loss. Paper loss only becomes real loss if you sell your shares. There are Nintendo investors who haven't blinked at all.

(Disclaimer: I have no stake in Nintendo shares)

Well, in that case, phew...
But in any case, I just hope Miitomo catches on early.

The stock went down because the game is delayed. If they waited longer to announce the delay, it could be worse since the market tends not to like uncertainty - and more uncertainty breeds more speculations.

Many hardcore fans doesn't like this.

But the app isn't meant to be appealing to the hardcore funbase, it is in the general público.

Nintendo has a traditional that they don't release a product until the guys inside think it is polished enough (they are wrong sometimes in that, but there are many times that worked well as well). As summed by a famous Miyamoto one-liner: "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is forever bad". The market often looks at earnings by quarter-by-quarter, which is not necessarily a good thing.

Personally, I am not really a fan of social networks, so I personally don't care about this app Nintendo is making. My George Orwell dark-side tells me that putting or talking too much about personal stuff on the Internet is generally a bad idea. I could care less about hard core or causal thing; I think that is the stupid fight. The gaming community will do well for themselves for stop making silly fights among themselves.
