Well it's already chronologically far ahead of the main series, and three more volumes should bring the story to the end of high school.

Good riddance, seeing how bad the anime was.

Maybe a second anime season would cover the rest of the material?

The anime ended with volume 5, but there's currently another three volumes of the manga available, feel free to read them if you're interested.

... Yeah, absolutely no real story here. Nothing is ending.

Edit: Making the post a little more clear.

This anime/manga gets bagged out for not having a "real story", but I love it. Love that they started it off as a slice-of-life/rom-com and have stuck to that throughout.

No major drama, no love rival appearing on the scene to try to take one of the MCs away, but a group of friends living their lives together.

Was always a look at familiar faces, in a different environment. I appreciate it for what it is, and look forward to seeing what conclusion Puyo has in mind.

My hope is that, at the end of it all, they know how the other feels. Not something I need to happen, but something I'd want to see. Laughing

I love the series too, by "no real story here" I mean that the tweet was entirely mistranslated and there's no indication of the series ending, meaning that this isn't a news story at all.

For a spin-off, is that considered a decent manga length? Before I watch this, I am going to have to watch the English dub of the first 2 main series (considering that we have the 2 web anime series).

What do you mean? The novels haven't ended! *holding out hope*

But yeah, I'm actually surprised that there will be 3 more volumes. I thought I heard that it was almost over already. Didn't expect it to go for 12 volumes. I'm also surprised that the anime only covers the first 5 volumes. I thought it was going to cover more. I'm way behind in the anime.

I recently started reading the manga, and I'm relieved that the anime just ended at volume 5, because spoiler[OMG, that ending was awful.]

So I hope the last volumes of the manga show me something I want since I watched the Disappearance movie.

I actually liked how Surprise ended. I've no problem if that is where the series finishes off.

Oh, and I just finished the anime, loved how it ended. Poking a little fun at spoiler[Endless Eight.] Laughing

The anime stopped where I think it should've, as it contained the only real story arc within the series. Everything before and after it is just "everyday life".

If you're thinking of the Disappearance novel/movie, I just don't see it. There are things that have already happened in Yuki-chan that leaves no space for the events of that novel/movie to happen in this version of the Disappearance world.

Honestly, I do believe that this is a series that took inspiration from the original Disappearance, and nothing more. I just don't see it tying in with the original Haruhi story.

If you're thinking "typical rom-com ending", I hope so.

I personally don't see this manga not tying up to the disappearance of Haruhi in some way. Although they can leave the scifi element out, preferably.
