Hmm interesting. I hope it will come out this year with a speedy BD release.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I love most of his films. The only one that I didn't really like was 'The Children who Chased lost Voices', but besides that I really enjoy his films. My favorites are '5 Centimeters Per Second' and 'The Garden Of Words'. Very Happy

I'm rather behind on Shinkai's work now, gotta catch up before this next film makes rounds. Looking forward to it.

I'm waiting ... oh I want another 5 Centimeters Per Second or Garden of Words. You're the best director and you have the best damn visual team in the world. I look forward to your release, Shinkai-san!

Despite really loving his animation style, I hope he sticks to a short runtime. I feel like his longer films tend to suffer from padding issues (like in "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" and "Children Who Chase Lost Voices". Funnily enough, I thought his best work was the recent cram school commercial; no wiggle room for anything but the essentials, and I think it brought some of the best out of him.

I haven't heard of him before, but he has a good repertoire (Hoshi o Ou Kodomo [Children Who Chase Lost Voices] has received good reviews).

Everyone says that, but... I guess "Early Days" somewhat has that problem (they could have completely ditched the smart-guy character and his various subplots that I barely even remember), but it wasn't that bad, and it was his first movie-length movie. "Lost Voices" didn't feel padded to me at all; it was like a Miyazaki movie without the vague sense of dullness I get when watching actual Miyazaki movies. "Garden of Words" felt more drawn-out than that one, even though it was shorter...

Heck, I'd probably rate "Lost Voices" above "5 Centimeters per Second." But, admittedly, I'm a weirdo.

If Shinkai ever decided to animate his grocery list, I'd be right there. Can't wait for this, whatever it is. He hasn't made a film yet that I haven't enjoyed.

I'm surprised that the story didn't mention the Z-Kai advertisement animation with Nagi Yanagi singing:

Well let's hope that his new work is related to that cram school commercial. I think the visual unveiled here is sort of reminiscent of a bridge scene in that commercial, if I remember correctly.

I'd actually say that's my favorite as well! It was the first film I saw by him as well right as he was breaking into features.
