Shocked Mexico does not look like that (OK, it does look like that in some places). At least it is being acknowledged, but what's with the random banjo hillbilly sounding music? They should of at least put some mariachi. And for such blobby character designs the background are pretty detailed.

And I'm sure, in the spirit of the series, that it's going to be totally respectful to Mexican culture and people. Rolling Eyes

While they are at it, they should also hire some local voice actors talent to do the local voices, like hollywood did in the movie Romancing the Stone. One way or the other we are going to get some more japanese tourism, probably asking about the parasyte infected local flora Laughing

I would love to see how anime (Japan) depicts Mexico. That preview already had me laughing.

Considering how poorly Japan still portrays black people to this day, I'm expecting a lot of cultural insensitivity from them.

You should check out El Cazador de la Bruja. Not the most accurate depiction, but it looks nice, and a Pemex even shows up. I think even Phantom of Inferno has a quick Mexico scene about halfway through.

Interesting that Kimiko Ueno wrote this one. She wrote many of my favorite episodes of Space Dandy. (She wrote the zombie one, the racing one, and the alternate-universe crew ones. There are more, but I forget which ones they are.)

Or am I confusing her with someone else?

Just-another-face, Japan often does negative portrayals of various foreigners, so I think this shouldn't be any different.
