I don't like the concept of Bardock and Goku's mother being any kind of caring parents, because they're Saiyans, and it smacks of trying to explain why Goku is more gentle.

Bardock shouldn't have given a crap.

So after all these years Akira is finally revealing who Goku mom is. Now the question of who was Goku mother would finally be put to rest (oh wait it actually has in a way since the article mention her name and gave a brief info of who she was). That being said it s quite odd that Goku mom actually has a gentle nature considering that she was raise in a society that values fighting and destroying other life, as well as being a saiyan she would have this natural love for fighting like it was mention the story (although that didn't stop Goku for being a gentle, caring character in the series so that later part may not apply that much). It's clear that in the story Gene is the black sheep of the saiyan race (if not at least a minority of saiyans who are actually not very violent), and this concept could make for an interesting story as Akira can explore how this difference would affect her and the other characters around her. This gives me a reason to get an issue of Shounen Jump (though being that it's digital now I don't know how it would work out).

Well I am happy for this and as KabaKabaFruit applies we should me thankful that we are finally going to see Goku mom. ^^

P.S Does anyone know the name of the music that lays during the preview video? I'm guessing it's the theme to Akira latest manga Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, but I don't know. I ask because I like the music. It sounds, as well as has, this 90s feel to it that I like, as well as giving the feeling of motivation to go on an adventure.

Maybe she....hit her head when she was a child.

I liked it better when Goku's kindheartedness is the result of BRAIN DAMAGE.

There is nothing odd about Goku's mom being gentle natured. Like someone above me said, there are going to be those that go against norms in most societies. Even Bardock becoming a more gentle saiyan isn't far'fetched at all, Vegeta is perfect proof of this, he is the former prince of saiyans yet he settled down and found a woman he loved and became an all around kinder person. They are just different and thats probably why they were able to achieve super saiyan and beyond, a.k.a. them having pure hearts. Who knows maybe Gine could've become one too. I for one am looking foward to this indefinately. The next time you say something is wrong, or just not right look, into it a bit more. Maybe you'll realize you were wrong. *drops the mic*

That's an awful explanation. Vegeta changed because when exposed to the Earth culture and through the various trials he endured he finally learned to appreciate other people besides himself.

Bardock and Goku's mother were born, raised, and when not on missions, lived on Planet Vegeta with its warrior culture, obsessed with combat. There's no reason not to believe that they were any different from Raditz, a brutal, murderous sociopath who died before learning what Vegeta did. Well, no reason not to believe that until now, apparently.

Goku, and the readers, were told by Kamesennin, that Goku's "grandpa" Gohan found his space capsule, and took him home, but he was a violent little turd until he fell into a ravine and bumped his head, after which he behaved himself. So we can only conclude that, yes, Goku gets his personality from irreversible brain damage. If he hadn't bumped his head, he would have been just as brutal and destructive as any ordinary Saiyan.

First of all i was using Vegeta's change of heart as a comparison, I never said they were the exact same. And even if they were born and raised on the saiyan warrior battle obsessed planet that doesn't mean they themselves were battle obsessed. They too might have experienced life in a different light like Vegeta did and like I said it's not odd for someone to go against their nature in a society. In the article it even said Goku's mom was saved a few time by Bardock and she developed romantic feelings for him, which is going against saiyan nature, so there was no reason to believe they were the same as Raditz either. I never once mentioned Goku inheriting his gentle nature either, it clearly showed in his fight with Raditz that he forgot his mission when he fell. So what i get from your post is that every saiyan is battle hungry all the time and there are no exceptions. That is what i call ignorance and while ignorance may be bliss it's still damn annoying. Come up with a better defense if you believe your right. [/quote]

Tarble kind of set the stage for weak Saiyans that don't hunger for blood.
