This is awesome. In Japan bicycling tends to be seen as a method of transportation, a means to an end, rather than an enjoyable sport or hobby; it's cool to see bicycling for fun being popularized by manga.

One of the characters in No-Rin talks about the same thing - maybe this is an actually viable marketing plan in Japan?

So, I've actually watched the first 5 or so episodes of this today because of this article, and it's actually really enjoyable. Fun characters and ridiculous sports shounen antics with actual bicycle and cycling information and strategy. I can certainly see why this is getting people into bicycling.
