A bit slow on the draw with this ANN.
I'm counting on y'all to buy this one so Sentai will go back, as is their wont, and dub it so I can buy it. |

Emily Neves would have been perfect for Maou...
I'll buy it, and hope they dub it some day for a fun rewatch. |

A bit unfortunate that Henneko didn't get a dub, but it probably wouldn't have benefited it any. If the price gets low enough some day, I'll pick it up since I loved the series.

Sentai has been really disappointing lately. Its not in the article, but on Fandompost it was confirmed Henneko and Maoyu will be released with all 12 episodes on 1 disc too.
But hey, FUNi's got some great stuff planned for the year, so I'm glad Sentai is making it easy for me not to buy from them. |

Nope. Either 2 or 3 disks is the industry standard. 12 episodes to a disk is chinese bootleg quality and trust me that crap is awful.
I will never understand you dub fanatics. When a company licenses a series they have to determine if it's going to sell well enough to warrant spending the thousands of dollars per episode on a dub. If they thought they would make more money dubbing it I 100% assure you they would. You want a series that was released as sub only to get a dub? Buy it, then write to the publisher about how awesome it is and about how much you'd love to see this get dubbed. By the way, the SUB only release of Oni Ai from Funi has been constantly sold out since it's release date. Expect funi to start releasing shows that normally wouldn't have gotten a home video release in lower priced sub only box sets in the future. |

It may have been the standard, but it's already been confirmed that Maoyu and Henneko are both planned to be on one Blu Ray disc each. http://www.fandompost.com/oldforums/showthread.php?21122-Sentai-Filmworks-licenses-Henneko-The-Hentai-Prince-amp-The-Stony-Cat&p=230590&viewfull=1#post230590 http://www.fandompost.com/oldforums/showthread.php?29110-Sentai-Filmworks-licenses-Maoyu-Archenemy-amp-Hero&p=230595&viewfull=1#post230595 |

Yeah, Sentai's 12-episode sets for BR have been 2 disc sets. Getting it on 1 disc would mean heavy pixelation due to cramming that many episodes on 1 disc. If that was in Sentai's press release, it's got to be a typo. BTW, Dog & Scissors' DVD set coming that same month is also confirmed as a sub-only set too. |

I saw disk and automatically assumed DVD for some reason. Blu Ray should be fine. Uncompressed 1080P rips usually top in around 2 GB per episode average. With a single layer BD you have 25gb to work with so it just may work. WIth dual layer that number goes up to 50gb.

Meanwhile Amnesia is getting a dub. Surely Maoyu and Henneko are going to be better sellers than that awful show.

Actually, there would be little point in me buying the sub-only release. animenewsnetwork.com/convention/2012/otakon/13
So far, Sentai admitted the one most important factor in making a dub for a sub-only release is spreading the cost with other overseas companies, so buying a sub-only release is only going to fatten their pocket, not get me closer to a dub. This is also why many of their re-releases with dub seem sometimes odd compared to what they could have picked, they don't really go for big sellers that did well, just shows they can share the cost of with other companies, with minor exceptions. If dub fans were to buy the sub releases, it would just send the message that shows will sell just as well without a dub, which is really counter-productive. Not buying it would be more efficient in telling them you want a dub, since it becomes necessary for them to do it to touch those dub fan profits. Its not guaranteed those shows failed to have a dub because they thought they wouldn't sell enough. They're the only releases that happen to be 12 episodes on 1 disc, maybe this was forced on them by the Japanese companies due to fear of reverse importation and so Sentai decided to release it that way now to get an early release and sacrificed the dub, which would take more space on already strained discs. Its entirely possible that it would have gotten dubbed if they had released it in the usual 2 disc format and just waited to be able to do that. Both Maoyu and Henneko are titles you'd expect Sentai to dub, and both are ones you'd expect to get better treatment than this 1 disc deal, so yeah I suspect reverse import screwing might have a hand in this. They were titles in this current announcement I expect not to be dubbed, but they are others that just seem random and usually would more than likely have gotten dubbed. As for OniAi, if the show is so popular, maybe FUNi will go back and dub it one day. They never entered the sub market before so we don't how they'll handle it, hopefully better than Sentai. That said, its still doesn't change my mind either way, FUNi is releasing plenty of dubs and they are plenty of series lined up that I'm eager to buy right now, that's not the case with Sentai anymore, might be again depending on how they handle their next release announcements. |

What? Are you freaking kidding me? Hell, I think even 6 episodes per BD is pushing it, quality wise. Unless they're BD50 and not BD25.
You are severely misinformed. An uncompressed 1080p rip would be at least 250 GB. What you are talking about are 1080p RAWS, which are compressed with h264. A single 25 minute episode on a Japanese bluray, which is also compressed with MPEG-4 AVC or VC-1 , is between 6GB and 8GB. |
