Let's just hope it won't be like the 1998 version. |

I know it's silly to count our chickens before they hatch, so to speak - but just with what we have already seen via this, a previous sneak trailer, and some shots and stuff, I'm fully confident that it's going to at least be WAY better than that. Kinda wish we got some better looks at Godzilla himself, but I guess they're wanting to keep his full look as shrouded as they can prior to the film's release. |

And not to be the downer, but just to devil's-advocate, on the side of caution: A "We're going to be serious this time!" Godzilla movie from the Warner producers of Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises? Some people might consider that a good thing, but think carefully from experience... They do have a tendency to overcompensate on the S-word. |

Looks pretty amazing. *Very* dark tone just from beginning of the trailer when the soldiers are diving into the thick of the clouds. Also a great job on the music to build a really slow and uneasy tension. Doesn't show too much of Godzilla himself, but this already looks a *ton* better than Roland Emmerich's movie from the '90s.
The final draft of the script was reworked and approved by Frank Darabont (director of such movies as "The Shawshank Redemption," "The Green Mile," and "The Mist," and series' frontrunner for the first season of "The Walking Dead"); meaning if this movie can be *any* bit as dark as The Mist or Walking Dead, then we've got a possible gem, here. The film was also produced by Legendary Pictures, the same company behind "Pacific Rim." So yeah, major props to these glimpses of high-quality production for the king daddy of all kaiju! |

As long MURRICA ARMY STRONK cannot beat Godzilla, I'm content. The entire point of Godzilla is that conventional weaponry does jack shit to him, so you either need SCIENCE or other large monsters. Shoehorned romance needs to be absent as well.
Also, that chanting music in the sky dive part, where's the monolith? |

Looks great, but really hope it doesn't end up being World War Z with Godzilla.

Hey, World War Z turned out to be better than people expected: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=worldwarz.htm Based on the novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Anyways, they better make Godzilla smart enough. He's not just some dumb animal guided simply by basic instincts. That's what inspires empathy from the audience - he's almost human. |
