I finally managed to download all 50 megs and it wasn't saved because my DL manager can't create directories. Now I have to do the whole thing over again at 2kb/sec. <sniff> |

The 50 mb trailer is 5+ minutes long and features Bateau as the focal point. It makes it seem like the movie is going to be about him, not Kusanagi. The trailer has been available for a week or so. At least the fansub version has been.

synopsis from Production I.G site. "Batou is a living doll. His whole body, even his arms and legs are entirely man-made. What only remains are traces of his brain and memories of a woman named, Motoko. When the boundary between humans and machines has infinitely blurred, Humans have forgotten that they are humans. This is a promiscuous story of a lonesome "ghost" of a man, who nevertheless seeks to retain humanity. Innocence... That's what life is." http://www.productionig.com/innocence.php |

It's weird, they don't actually mention Motoko Kusanagi in the preview, it's just a "woman". I wasn't sure if it was her they were refereing to or not. Thanks for clearing that up.

thankfully I got the preview a while ago. That's one of the benefits of being on the I.G board.

looks to be just a story in the GITS universe that revolves around Batou, it will be interesting to see if there are any Kusanagi references. Is it set before, after the original story or what?

I think that it is after the original movie.

The animation is beautiful.
Really nice use of color (as usual) and the mood seems to be what I'm used to from Oshii. Thoughtful and slow until it gets to soem action and then it explodes (and of coruse the basset hounds are running amok >o<) Does anyone know if they're using deep paint for their backgrounds this time? I forget what they used to do the 3d stuff in GITS...it's probably on one of the proudction discs I have somewhere in my stash Does anyone know if this is getting a dual US/Japan release theatrically? I may be looking at my next trip to Japan to catch this one on the big screen j |
