I'll be honest, I don't like that he can speak.

Didn't they make Pikachu speak in those Mystery Dungeon (or maybe Ranger?) games?
I wonder if this will ever actually come out. |

I'm looking forward more to the Pokémon Trozei sequel that they're finally making. I've always thought they should've kept going with that game!

This really pissed me off when I read the blurb on the front page.
"For the first time in franchise history, Pikachu will speak." animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-11-02/rie-kugimiya-voices-pikachu-in-pokemon-mystery-dungeon-anime-short "Voice actress Rie Kugimiya gives Pikachu a speaking voice in three promotional videos that Nintendo posted on Friday for the Pokémon Fushigi no Dungeon: Magnagate to Mugendai Meikyū (Pokémon: Mystery Dungeon: Magnagates and the Infinite Labyrinth) game." Someone at ANN should be fired. No joke. Not only did Pikachu have a speaking voice, ANN reported on it! And it was almost exactly a year ago (4 days to a year, to be exact!) today! I really hope this gets corrected if ANN has a shred of dignity for the accuracy in their articles. EDIT: Found another article about a talking Pikachu! animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-03-25/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-anime-shorts-streamed-in-english "The shorts feature a talking Pikachu — not the more familiar one trained by Ash (Satoshi)." |

I actually watched the special live, and one major thing ANN forgot to mention here was something I happened to take a screenshot of:
http://imageshack.us/a/img24/6876/qngi.png They were talking about how to "change" Pikachu to keep it interesting to the audiences and in the scripts, the producer, Ishikawa, was surprised to find that they were suggesting that they make a special antagonistic Pikachu, with a particularly interesting look... The caption from the screenshot I took of the script, above, says, Pikachu: "It's a rare sight in the world--a blue Pikachu!" |

I agree, I had already read about the game on another site, but I clicked this article to see if they corrected themselves about Pikachu speaking 'for the first time'. Pikachu has spoken English/Japanese several times in the past. Granted, it wasn't Ash's Pikachu, but I highly doubt this one is meant to be Ash's Pikachu anyway.

Aren't the Mystery Dungeon games some weirdness where humans have been transformed into Pokemon? I guess they don't count because of that. |

The main character turns into a Pokemon, and thus, he/she can understand other Pokemon's speech. |
