Anime/Manga companies shouldn't waste too much time in Comic-Con because most of the attendees there are not there for the Anime/Manga. Also, Comic-con places Anime/Manga as their least priority to actually care when it comes everything else. Hell look at their guest of honors list and don't be surprised if you don't find a single Mangaka in that list. If Dark Horse hadn't invited one earlier, there wouldn't have been any GoH's from the Jpop cultural isle at all.

Also, most Anime/Manga vendors(with the exception of a few, primary industry professionals) are placed in the 100 block, the farthest hall of the convention possible, which makes it hell to get to them. Also, if you dress in anything related to Anime cosplay or Tshirt, prepare to get some attention and in a not-so-good way. There might be some Comic/Hollywood geeks who love Anime/Manga culture but they are there mostly there for the Hollywood, Marvel/DC, and American Popculture.

Viz should have saved their announcement for Otakon and Kondansha Comics needs to get their butt to Anime-cons to communicate with their fans there. In Comic-Con, they might meet a few fans and converts but they won't get a hell lot like they would if they had attended Anime Expo/Otakon instead.

Plus Kondansha and the rest of the Anime/Manga companies shouldn't expect to garner extra coverage just because they are in Comic-con. On the contrary, they will garner the same converge if they had attended just about any mid-size/large Anime convention, since ANN, Crunchyroll, and a select few will report the stories regardless of their locations. The Mainstream media and journalists mostly focus on Hollywood, Marvel, and American pop-culture in general and don't care too much for Anime/Manga.
