"You can't give this game a C, it has a woman in the lead role. Because of that fact alone it deserves at least an A-. And you're just hating on the game because Nilin is a girl and you're a guy, which means you are part of the oppressive male gaming community who hates females and female characters. If Nilin was a guy you'd give the game a better score."
...is what I expect some crazy feminist will say.

I don't even know how to respond to that. Don't start arguments that weren't even addressed.
Female or male protagonist, if a game's a muddled mess it's a muddled mess. The point of feminism is women being equal, not women being better.
Anyway, visually it seems like a gem, but I gotta have a good story before I throw down $70...

Thanks for the annoying, unnecessary, unfunny strawman BS.
Now sit in the corner and think about what you've done.

Poe's Law.
Given how people are so sensitive about any perceived slight I suppose should have put a [/sarcasm] end-tag after it to show I wasn't being serious.

great review~
Personally for me, it's so strange but, whenever a game like this has such amazing graphics and visual effects i overlook it's plot. It's the same for anime; Guilty Crown- not so great plot but nice visuals and staff (supercell and redjuice)

I think you meant sacred, not scared.

Thanks for pointing that out! Sometimes you miss something no matter how many times you read it.

I'm a dude, and I'm a feminist. Do people have no idea what feminist effing theory is anymore?
Also, Dave, although I disagree with on almost every single aspect of this review, I must say that it was very well-written. I find it hard to believe somebody didn't love this game, but hey, different strokes, eh?

So you were just acting like an [insult removed] a person I disagree with politically for yucks? Whats the [expletive] point of that?

From my watching's of Chaotic Monkey playing it, this game seemed pretty good...in any case, I was thinking of picking it up.

I see how many people right know gonna reply you telling that it isn't funny and showing how high their morals are. gr8 b8 m8
Anyway, it's kinda strange that in a lot of reviews there are the same thought about variety of ideas that developers couldn't use properly. I actually enjoyed the game: acrobatics is the same as in all such games lately, combat is interesting (though it would be better if developers implemented more combos) and punishing for buttin mashers and there are fun fights with bosses. That and great atmosphere made the experience worthwhile.

Please don't be like Chagen46 and abuse the term "a person I disagree with politically". If you use it willy nilly to describe any male chauvinist then it kind of loses its impact.
As for why I mocked those creeps who hate or dismiss women, well, isn't that kinda self-evident?
I will reiterate that I should have made it clearer in my opening post that it was just a parody. The fact that I did not do so is my bad.

The a person I disagree with politically's are a reactionary force to a reactionary force in Global power relations, but they deserve the same respect that any feminist would.
Thanks for the review, I'm glad I heard a dissenting voice to go against what seemed like amazing trailers and interviews. I'll be taking a close look at this game before I potentially buy it.

It's not that those who replied didn't know you were 'joking', it's the fact that it was just unnecessary.
