To be honest, I was surprised this was even getting a dub. Gotta like the fact Chris Ayres is directing, though.

Genevieve Simmons has a deeper voice and did a good job in a couple of roles in Bodacious Space Pirates, so she might be able to pull off Mikoto. That's going to be tricky, though, since that was one of the most distinctive Japanese vocal performances of the past few years. I look forward to hearing how she sounds.

It's actually getting a dub? Wow, I figured this would be one of their sub-only sets when they announced the home video rights.

If you can believe it, Tsuritama was going to be sub only also until fans demanded a dub, which they're going to deliver in August! Very Happy

Same here. I'm actually surprised this is getting localised, so gonna pick it up when it's out. Not usually a dub fan, but I've been surprised by a dubs quality before. Your avatar being one of them. Wink

Their dub:sub ratio has gone up a lot, lately. Apparently, they're making enough money to afford it. Good on 'em.

I was also surprised when this was announced as a dub, and I am one of the shows big fans. What ticks me off is that two of my other favorite recent shows that were picked up by Sentai: Waiting in the Summer and Tari Tari, both got or are getting Sub-only DVD releases. This is especially grating due to the gorgeous visuals, especially of Tari Tari, but WitS had good art too... I personally would have rather gotten Tari Tari on BluRay and this on DVD, though I love the show.

Glad to hear that Key thinks there is a hope that Genevieve might be able to pull of the part of Urabe. Her job isn't quite as hard as Brina Palencia's was when she was picked to be Holo in Spice and Wolf, but it is close. Ayako Yoshitani's performance was amazing, especially considering it was her first, and only so far, voice acting work.

Am I the only one who kinda sees Greg Ayres as Tsubaki and not Ueno? Just something about his voice seems very soft and young, sort of easy to become flustered and emotional. I think he would suit Tsubaki, as Ueno is a more calm and collected character. Still, maybe it's just me; I'm glad to see this is getting a dub (although the japanese seiyu for Urabe was great; I'm wondering how they can top that) and will be interested to see how this compares to other Sentai efforts (I'm really glad this didn't go to Foster; I cringe at the landmine this series would be for his notorious re-writes...).

It also helps that Steven Foster isn't directing most of their dubs anymore.

Only Sentai would dub a show like Mysterious Girlfriend X.

Foster has directed six dubs so far this year and by the end of the year that number will be around 10 to 12 at least. Chris and Foster are currently directing the majority of Sentai's dubs. Foster's current dubs this year haven't been phenomenal but they've been quite solid considering the short amount of time that he has to finish these dubs I would say he is doing a fairly competent job.

So not only is this superb series getting released at all, but it is also receiving a dub. And as a bonus it is being released on Blu-Ray as well.

Good work Sentai. Good work.

Why no mention of Hoods Entertainment's previous works?
While I am happy that MGX is getting a blu-ray release with a dub, I wish Qwaser got the same treatment to from Sentai. Qwaser is one of the few anime series that really needed a so bad it's good kind of dub. Hearing the subject maters the show was about with bad Russian accents would have been great.
I see Hoods as one of more promising studios out there. While a lot of their series are fairly raunchy, they do them full of love, not spite. I love the goofy attitude and tone their shows have without being overly self referential or self aware like a lot of Shaft shows are. I couldn't see Shaft capturing the right tone for MGX if they got it. It's a shame their planned TV series seem much more generic and bland then their previous TV series were. I just hope they get a hit sooner or later.

Yo, I gotta toss in: this show was amazing.

Most top-tier fan service I've ever seen in an anime and surprisingly also one of the more insightful regarding teens with raging hormones who are interested in going out there and being "adventurous".

I didn't think this show was gonna be so godlike going in.

With regards to the dub, I haven't really listend to a lot of Foster's "straight-up" content, so I can't really judge...
