As a fan of the franchise since the first film (I even read the novel), I really thought the first film was untapped potential. It relied too much on jump-scares, and the plot completely retconned the originals. There was no indication that it was a reboot until halfway through the film when they spoiler[completely change Sadako's origin story.]
That being said, the premise had potential, so maybe this one will be better. The first one just hit Blu-Ray in North America, and it's pretty cheap. I wrote a halfway-decent review on the product page on Amazon, so if you're curious, check it out. |
