Number One~!!
Number one forever <3 At least, it deserves to be number one forever.

Hopefully they'll make some more anime of Black Butler if it's still popular~

As long as the manga itself will be finished sooner than later, it is a strong possibility. After all, they did that with Fullmetal Alchemist when the manga finally finished, so hopefully, they'll do the same with Black Butler.

...especially considering I am a fan of the series as well. X3

I still don't understand how Assassination Classroom and Sekirei haven't been licensed yet...

Over 750.000 copies sold for Assassination Classroom's first volume and it doesn't even have an anime yet. Once it does, I think it could become Jump's second best-selling manga in sales/volume.

Just out of curiosity and for comparison purposes, does anyone know how much One Piece, Naruto, HunterxHunter and Bleach sold per volume before they were adapted into anime form ?

They wait at least two years of running, before adapting a manga to anime. To make is fan base more solid and to have a bigger interval between the manga and the anime.

I don't know the real values, but I believe each one of them were already big hits, so I estimate at least one million. Assasination Classroom, if keeps like this will definitely sell more than one million at the time it gets anime.

Yes, I know, I thought Assassination Classroom was slightly older actually. It means it will have more room to keep selling more volumes in the next year or so before getting another boost from the anime. If it has enough longevity, it could do well over a million for the first volume which would be really amazing for a new manga.

Big hits enought to warrant an anime, that's for sure. But I would like more detailed numbers if those can be found anywhere (I know Oricon giving the weekly numbers only dates back to 2008 or 2007 so I understand numbers from the 90s-early 00s' might be hard to find).

I suppose it depends how long Assassination classroom goes on for as to how big it gets, though they are impressive sales figures regardless. I think Naruto, Bleach, HxH generally get 500,000 to 700,000 up when they kick out a new volume? But like you said Naruto and HxH have anime and Bleach had one in the past. It'll be interesting to see how the sales change when the anime is eventually announced.

If it continues to be this popular it might just rise above everything else haha. That said I have still held of on reading it, I should really give it a go at some point.

This is Info from Zeromcd who is someone very knowledgeable about Jump and very adept at finding information on Jump.
Here is the link: http://mangahelpers.com/forum/showthread.php/73317-Weekly-Shonen-Jump-2011-2012-Discussion-and-TOC-Talk?p=2711464&viewfull=1#post2711464
Random Jump Sales Facts

- One Piece broke 2,000,000 copies sold per Volume at Volume 12

- HunterxHunter was close to breaking 1,000,000 copies per Volume at volume 4

- Naruto broke 1,000,000 copies sold per Volume at Volume 6

- Bleach broke 1,000,000 copies sold per Volume at Volume 15

- Death Note Volume 1 sold 1,000,000 copies before Volume 2 was released (Fastest in History)

- D.Gray-Man Volume 1 Sold 460,000 Copies before Volume 2 was released

- Hitman Reborn! Volume 1 sold 130,000 Copies before Volume 2 was released

- Gintama Volume 1 sold 390,000 copies before Volume 2 was released

However I think some of those facts he mistook printed number with sold number. For example I don’t think One Piece sold 2 000 000 Million with Volume 12 but it had 2 000 000 printed is quite likely

Thanks for that. ^^

It's definitely the amount of volumes printed because I remember reading that Bleach never broke the 1 million mark in sales in its entire run. With 750 000 sold, Assassination Classroom should definitely have 1 million of its 1st volume printed. It was already at 800 000/volume in december : http://www.manga-news.com/index.php/actus/2012/12/31/Chiffres-du-mois-de-decembre.
