Wow, Carl Kimlinger actually liked this show? The one that is in his own words, "vulgar and mean and misanthropic"?
Maybe there's hope for him after all.
Detroit Metal City is incredibly crude, coarse, sordid and even obscene. And yet it gave me laughing fits. There are very Anime Comedies that are as reliably hilarious as this.
I want to give a special shout-out to Krauser's fans. Their side-splitting commentary was to me the best part of the show.

DMC builds ugliness on top of more ugliness. But it's absolutely hilarious. I'm not sure what it says about me that I watched the whole series in one sitting.

I usually don't like over the top crude or obscene humor, but this show had me laughing my ass off.

I so dearly enjoyed localizing the lyrics to the opening and ending themes four years ago.
Overall, I'm surprised that they kept some of those localizations intact, according to what Mr. Carl Kimlinger has written.
I'll have to buy this and see for myself how much they kept from my now-retired pastime.

I noticed that the translation of the opening theme is the same translation as the fansub I saw a year or so ago. I don't think that Sentai would blatantly rip them off, so I was curious about this. Are you saying you were the one that did the translations? I was just wondering what the story was.

Yes, I helped with translating this show four years ago, most notably the songs and dialog, with the joint group that put this out by the end of 2008.
I wouldn't think the publisher would use those, regardless of the time I took to make the ending theme sound like flowers and rainbows.

I did the same thing. I guess we can be terrible people together?
Anyway, DMC is easily one of the funniest things ever. Period.

I have only watched couple of other music band anime: Beck, which was insulting in the end, and the recent one about jazz band, Kids On The Slope, which is good, but did not get me excited.
This one is the best of all three. Ridiculous, in a good sense, amazing and fun. I literally can not think of any ways to make this project better. Masters' piece of this genre.
