I wonder if it'll have any better video quality, or just the same content as the old disc, of course with the previews and other such changed.

Weird coincidence. I was just watching my copy of Shamanic Princess last weekend.

There hasn't been a Japanese re-release, not that I could find anyway, so I doubt the video quality will be upgraded. But here's hoping. I'm just really surprised this is getting an NA re-release. I like the show quite a bit, but it never really seemed that popular.

I don't think they want to give up on the title, but had poor sells with it and they're having money issues with getting the dub finished. They have said they've been having issues because of the lack of international support. It sort of helped getting series dubbed and covering the costs to what the US companies did. Bakuman got no support form other English speaking counties. Not even Viz Media Europe supported it, not even sure if the title got released in the UK, if it did, I may of just been sub-only.

May of been like Fushigi Yugi and had enough people to want it and mostly got the title on the cheap. I'm hoping that they'll recuse Story of Saiunkoku, it's like Fushigi Yugi but with better character designs and much better voice acting. I wouldn't hold my breath for the dub of 2nd season, but I could hope.

The Bakuman anime hasn't been released over here in any form. I suspect it probably would've been if Viz had licensed it rather than MB, as they seem to sublicense a lot of stuff to distributors over here.

Correction: Bakuman WAS released here but in two parts, one of which never saw the light of day. Relevant link for the part that was released: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/BIQ1Fd9XCU04uJIVb8/browse/item/92672/4/0/0

Sainunkoku isn't really like Fushigi Yuugi at all, actually. People just say that because they're both reverse-harems in ancient China. That's all they have in common. They're both great. And they both have a ton of the same voice actors in them. Funny.

Anyway, WTF at them rescuing SP. I have my old DVD sitting pretty on my shelves. Unexpected.

Yah, I was wondering why I'd never heard of Shamanic Princess before. The info I found online seemed interesting, so I've added it to the to-watch list.

Still debating whether to buy the two Jubei-chan anime. The OP theme and the sword fights are really awesome, but the monkey gang took up way too much screen time, especially in season 2.

I don't see a Media Blasters listing for Jubei 2. Confused

So, you're saying that all that time and money I spent tracking down CPM's old OOP release was wasted, eh? Damn. (It was more time than money, I got the DVD for twenty bucks)

But srsly, I'd recommend anyone give Shamanic Princess a look. The plot is a tad confusing (It helps to know ahead of time that the last three episodes actually occur chronologically before the first three), but the artwork is incredible.

I remember watching crappy version of Shamanic Princess from Central Park Media years ago. Not just picture quality, even the DVD chapters are screwed up.

Seriously, I was attracted by staff and animation quality. I would love to buy it if there is significant improvement.
