Alas my dreams of getting a pyhsical relase are dashed...

Oh well, I'll still download it, but I'll need something for backup in case something were to happen to my system I'd still have the game so I won't have to buy it again.

All games you buy on a PSN account are tied to your account, and can be redownloaded at any time.

To those that want it, Europe is getting a physical release around the same time. Zavvi has it listed for £24.95, which is around 40 USD, and shipping is about 1 USD.

I tried that, but I noticed it was asking me for credit card stuff I didn't recognize.. probably Europe stuff. Is it really importable?

Yep, they also accept Paypal.
My friend ordered both Last Story and Xenoblade from them and had it shipped to Canada without issue.
