I'm a huge fan of the Fatal Frame series, and even I have to admit that Spirit Camera was severely lacking Crying or Very sad I loved the idea that the DS became your camera obscura (read:weapon -- for those not familiar with the series--) but exorcising those ghosts were a chore at best and darn near impossible at worse! (I'm looking at you, floaty hand!)

I was also disappointed at how short it was; even with forewarning, it still felt like it could've been a side quest in Fatal Frame IV or something because the ending came too fast. I played it twice to get the extra stuff, but that'll probably be the last time I touch the game. Crying or Very sad

The first Silent Hill game I played was 2 and the first Fatal Frame game was also nr 2. I love both those games and I'm sad to see both franchises be so horribly mishandled. Fatal Frame hasn't suffered nearly as bad as Silent Hill yet so I'm cautiously optimistic about it coming up with another worthy title. I'd like it to be on a platform I own as well since I don't have a Wii or any portable game consoles. Never played Fatal Frame 4 because of that.

So without a Wii it probably won't excite you that Fatal Frame 2 is coming to Wii in Europe? No word on an American release, but hey, Wii's pretty import friendly.

And I'd say Fatal Frame hasn't fallen as far as Silent Hill over the years, though admittedly it's had a shorter drop. Silent Hill 1-3 are all spectacular games (for widely varying reasons on a title-by-title basis). By comparison Fatal Frame 2, the best in the series, is a only pretty good game (with a spectacular ending).

I was actually surprised, because I thought they weren't going with the "failed sacrifice" angle, only to have it show up way later in the game and be really weird spoiler[the ritual's success is contingent upon the sacrifice being cut off from the outside world (i.e.: no friends) soooo... she invents an imaginary friend for herself and that's some sort of weird loophole so the ritual kills everyone].

The hand ghost was pretty miserable for me, too. The sun was setting while I was playing, so I had to put the AR book on the floor next to my patio door and sort of awkwardly crouch/duckwalk around it in order to shoot the ghosts. The first time I did I couldn't shoot the second hand, not realizing I had to physically move to the side, so I reset the game, thinking it was bugged.

The distributers of the Fatal Frame games here in America obviously don't care about the Wii being 'import friendly' or they would have released the 4th game here. But there may be a stronger possibly that that the remake of FF2 will come here since it is one of the series' most popular.

I don't know if I'd get it though since I'm not a big fan of the Wii and I already own the second game. I would have bought the 4th game had it come here, more so than the FF2 re-release, but oh well.

As for this game I'm not too interested in it. I hear it's annoying to play sometimes and you have to play somewhere roomy (or a room that isn't filled with junk) or catching the ghosts would just be a nightmare. Hearing that it's short and you have to move around a lot: eh... not my type of game.

Fatal Frame II on the Wii isn't just a port; it's a full remake. The character models are new and it appears to use the Fatal Frame IV engine. It comes out in late June, and I have the Japanese version preordered. FF II was my favorite game on PS2. Loved the story and atmosphere.

I'm not sure I would call the Wii import-friendly. The games are region locked, after all. I know it's not that hard to hack, but still...

Also: I heard that the reason Fatal Frame IV wasn't released in the US was that the Japanese version was buggy. Tecmo wanted Nintendo to pay for the bug fixes but Nintendo said no. Since no one was willing to pony up to fix the bugs they just didn't release it outside of Japan.
