Man, they sure seem to love their knock-off Gundam in China, what with the statue and now this ;P

Am I the only one who finds the idea cute but the execution a tad creepy?

I couldn't help but burst out laughing when I was watching this. It was just... I can't say. It was LOLwut. That's what it was.

Not creepy enough, add tentacles, it'll solve everything.

I particularly found the first video amusing since it has the heroes of Dreamwork's Monsters Vs. Aliens as the goofy villains versus the Fauxdam.

Yeah CG a tad creepy.

But the fact that they used a track from the Pirates of the Caribbean Soundtrack, and the sound effects from Stargate with out altering them, make it seem they truly don't care about copyrighted material.

While copying much from Gundam...

...the costumes those children are wearing are *blatantly* rip-offs of the infamous "plug suit" costumes from Evangelion.

Also, I think they sort of ripped off Evangelion, the suit in the first video sort of look a lot like the plug suit from Evangelion. China never cease to amaze me.

That was so full of copyright infringement! As pointed out...even the music and sound effects. I know I heard Kenji Kawai in there somewhere (from around the 3:20 to 4:40 mark).

We design and develop our own animation with their own copyrights. They do contain elements of popular titles, but all are adapted ourselves so there is no copyright concerns.

Not really quite sure how they "adapted" that unmistakable Gundam to state "no copyright concerns"...

It doesn't make much sense if you're from a country that acknowledges copyrights as legitimate. China tends not to see them that way, or at least ones from other countries, so any flimsy claim will suffice, especially since they know that nothing will come of it even if someone calls them on it.

The wormhole/warp-drive SFX near the beginning sounds almost exactly like the one from Stargate...

I think the CGI creepiness comes from the uncanny valley.

no shame. from what i heard, they teach you how to copy/steal other people's work in school. Like when you write an essay, they wanted you to copy the essay in the book, then change he to she, place name, etc..
