Actually, through various actor leaks, and animation studio leaks we've found out that Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters is a brand new production. Its animation is being handled by the studio behind GI Joe: Renegades, and has its voice acting done in LA.

I don't know how much of the first series' script was rewritten for the dub, but it was one of the funniest things on Toonami/SVES at the time.

Everything
Literally everything was redone. It made 4Kids' work on Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and One Piece look like a Funimation dub.
I blame that terrible dub for it's ultimate failure in the US and why it never got past the first series (did it even finish airing the first series? I remember there was huge budget problems because of all the edits and stuff they did and they changed dubs like three times or something) Which is a shame since the card game was kinda of interesting and it's sad to see it dead in the US.
Still, better off than Battle Spirts did where they released the card game but not any of the anime series that go with it (which is what my Avatar is of, by the way) Not the brightest marketing decision to bring over the card game with a show without the show to promote it... Battle Spirits died only a few sets in, sadly. Which is a shame.
As for Beyblade... I'm more into that than Duel Masters, truth be told. I picked up a Mad Cancer and Genocide Rex and plan to get a Jade Jupiter. Basalt Horogium is still the gem of my collection, though.
The fact this new series isn't just a dub of one of the other series but a US made one (maybe?) doesn't sound good. By Hasbro, no less, who's work on Beyblade is questionable at best. I fear it'll be just like the old hackjob dub. Hasbro makes random tweaks and changes, since they don't just release the Japanese Beys, they get the models and 'remake' them. Which means the material quality is different, and when even the slightest gram can completely change a Bey's performance, that's not a very good thing. Beys that were amazing in Japan become useless because the balance has been thrown off with the new material. Plus they don't even bother releasing a good portion of them, so you're better off importing them from Japan like most Bladers do.
If the future of Duel Masters is in their hands.. I'm not really optimistic, to say the least

Hopefully there aren't rare metal cards in booster packs. It would be ridiculously easy to abuse.
It's bad enough that some extremely dedicated people can figure out which YGO packs have rare cards because foil cards are slightly heavier than cardboard ones.

Well, the difference between Beyblade and Duel Masters is that Beyblade is a Takara Tomy brand, and Duel Masters is actually a Hasbro brand. Wizards of the Coast (a Hasbro subsidiary) created Duel Masters. They are the originators of the game, and likely have had some input in the way it has shaped in Japan.
Also as a note, generally speaking, Hasbro's Beyblade releases tend to use re-enforced mold variations for safety and quality reasons. As well, I don't believe they've skipped anything big. There's the Pre-HWS series (of which Hasbro remade some in the "Legends" series) and some of the video game Beys, but nothing outside of Quentz is really useful from that, and even then, Quentz is severely outclassed.

Well I'm sure collectors get annoyed, but yeah, I know why they remold them (safety regulations and such) but it's still annoying... and their push of those gimmicky tops don't really help much.

Yeah, I think I have read about that. If I remember correctly Duel Masters has terminology and play that is derivative of Magic: The Gathering and that it was some sort of IP deal with the author from Wizards.

I liked the dual masters card game, most of the time even more so than yugioh.
But the show was just terrible -.-
