I second that. Why on earth would they use Danbo?

Danbo is often portrayed as being made from Amazon boxes.

That's the only connection I see. Its kinda fun tho Smile

hmm... although as random as this is, from the way you worded that question, it sounds like danbo (or any other fictional character/person) has to be gay or specifically symbolize it in order to support/participate in pride. Woody from Toy Story was in the Google Chrome - Dan Savage commercial.

Looking closer it seems the Danbo's are members of Starfleet Command so I think this is just a case of some geeks having fun, not allegations on the sexuality of cardboard. Razz If there must be a message it is "I am gay, but that is not all that defines me" or something of the sort.

Gay pride parades often include companies & organizations that support the LGBT community and our rights (that aren't necessarily organizations that have a direct correlation themselves, like the Human Rights Campaign). I would think that this is just Amazon personifying itself with a mascot since the boxes are so iconic (and it makes a lot more sense for a "robot" made of boxes to walk in a parade than just a box itself^^).

For example, in our parade, Chipotle always flys a giant, inflatable burrito down the street ;D

What is this BS
amazon USA does not even sell amazon danbo, I had to import all the ones I own

its fine if they want to participate in the parade, but they need not advertise something they don't actually sell.

Is it just me or does hiding your identity sort of run completely counter to having "pride"?

Very true. If your hiding, your not really showing your true identity, thus rendering this idea quite useless.

Also what does a generic box have anything to do with pride? Its just a plain, run of the mill box could can find virtually anywhere.

Also, isn't Yotsuba geared towards kids as well? Pretty sure they have no idea of either meanings as well.

Frankly Amazon, I am not sure what in world you were thinking with this one, if there was any thought process at all.

Considering this isn't Japan where this might make some sense, this actually seems quite pointless and does not seem rational in the very least.

Yotsuba&! ran (runs?) in a seinen magazine, geared towards older males, not little kids. To be quite honest I scratch my head whenever I hear people recommending it to children, because children aren't going to get half the humor in the series (which focuses on the silly things that children do). True there is nothing offensive in the series making it accessible to children in that respect, but it is really written for adults to read and think is adorable.

This reeks of Amazon trying to make nice with the LGBT community after their recent AmazonFail incidents (both the delisting of m/m romance books and the more recent removal of yaoi manga from the Kindle). Not buying it.
