I've only ever seen the first two GE999 movies, so I have a question: The way Tetsuro looks in the picture, did he look like that in the tv series? Because he sure didn't look like that in the movies. o,O

Tetsuro looks a bit off in that picture to me. It almost looks like it's halfway between Matsumoto's original design and the somewhat more realistic design of Rintaro's films.

Was the first film originally animated in widescreen? The Japanese DVD and upcoming Blu-Ray both seem to be listed as 16:9. The only fansub I've ever been able to find is widescreen, but it appears to have been cropped (and extremely green tinted) in comparison to my VHS copy. The opposite is true with the sequel, with the VHS being cropped compared to the fansub. It's my understanding that a lot of Japanese films were made in a 4:3 ratio back then, but were sometimes and sometimes not exhibited at other ratios in theatres.

I haven't really seen the 999 series (except for very brief clips) and have only most of the manga that Viz did years back. I do like the concept that is being released on 09/09/09 and is 999 seconds long.
