Good to see sola and True Tears finally getting release dates after getting delayed for so long. Even better given the Anime Legends release, so it'll be nice and cheap. Still no word on Shigofumi though.

Shame that Hayate isn't going to get a dub. Even with it's smattering of Japanese pop references, it's got enough likable characters to negate that for the average watcher. Basing whether or not a show gets a dub on if it'll get a TV deal seems like a bad idea considering what Bandai thinks of as a wide-reaching US station...

And then there's the whole Youtube thing. Legal streaming is a good thing, but blocking by country/region is just a dumb idea. Sure, it'll stem piracy somewhat in one area, but else where it'll just drive people to torrents (or proxy servers).

Bandai has to region block, because they only licensed the show for region 1. They CAN'T have it open to people from other regions. Don't like it? Download fansubs then. Don't like fansubs? Sit and sulk or find a way to use a proxy, but then you're still breaking some law as well by doing that.

Bandai's channel doesn't work for Canadians. Unless Canada slipped into some pocket dimension while I wasn't looking, we were in Region 1 as well.

Blame Japan for that then, it's most likely not BEUSA's fault, they'd want as much exposure as possible.

Bandai will regret not dubbing Hayate. Really stupid on their part! I remember at a few cons ago I believe Otakon, they talked about releasing 3 different versions, uncut, cut, and dub on dvds. Wonder if that changed

Bandai is also going ahead with a manga adaptation of their The Girl Who Leapt Through Time movie (due out in April),

There's more than one? Personally, I'd rather someone just license the novel.

And in a final announcement, Bandai is launching a dedicated YouTube channel to provide digital distribution options for its anime.

I'll pay a subscription fee if you lemme see the LA 80s Oshii stuff one more time...I finally have the cash for it, and it goes OOP... Crying or Very sad

As for Hayate, just be glad it got licensed at all, since it's one of those left-field titles which are less and less likely to appeal to American distributors nowadays.

Given that Sola, Hayate, and True Tears were produced and broadcasted in HD in the first place, they also really deserve a BluRay release.

.. I wonder if an Anime Legends thinpack BD version is possible..

Hayate unlikely to get a dub? What the blue hell?

Bandai said before that they'd put TWO English dubs on it: One with all the references to other anime bleeped, and one unbleeped dub!

Because the possibility of ever getting this series to screen on an American television channel is very low, a dub is highly unlikely.

While I'm not totally perturbed that Hayate won't get a dub, I fail to see how this is at all a legitimate excuse. Because it won't be shown on TV = No dub? Erm.... the majority of anime is not shown on TV and yet most shows still get a dub, including most of Bandai's titles.

Wait, what? So they're trying to make the excuse that any anime that won't get shown on TV won't get a dub? Man, **** you, Bandai. I was really looking forward to Hayate's release. -_- Count one sale gone.

This probably means sola and True Tears aren't getting dubbed either, count two more sales lost. Absolutely ridiculous.

From browsing this article, True Tears seems to be the only thing worth my interest. I hear such a show has a love polygon in it though, something on which I don't exactly dote. Then again, if it's likely to be sub-only it'll at least be cheap.
I'd need a large monitor to take advantage of Akira on Blu-ray, and although it's one of my favourites I doubt it'd be worth the price considering I already own the DVD.

sola and True tears were announced as sub only since Bandai got them. They never announced plans to give them a dub.

It'd be best if you had a 1080p TV that was 27 inches or larger, or a 24 inch monitor.
