I enjoy Shuffle as well. Reviews have seemed kinda harsh from the start. Despite the reviews the series seems to be selling well. I will definatly be getting the box verson of disc 6.

Hmm... you know, it seems like Anime News Network is the only one that has a problem with this series. It seems slightly this series is slowly going down in a grade each review. Maybe the reviewer should stop focusing on the bad so much and look for the good. That's what I do, though I hardly find the flaws in the show. Though I found this DVD the weakest out of every one in the series, Vol. 5 made up for that.

I think this reviewer has already made up his mind about this series, and by jove, he's going to stick with the anger. Grrrr!

Seriously though, I really liked Shuffle (once it passed episode 10 or so). But hating on the Shuffle seems to be this guy's "thing," so I guess he just can't let it go. Kind of sucky really, seeing as some people who just want a fun show might read his reviews and then skip it.

Really though, there are MUCH worse drivel shows out there than Shuffle. I'd hate to see how they rate if this gets a D+ from him. D+.... ReallY?

If the reviewer sees no good, then it's pointless. Besides, I think an anime is doing something wrong if I need to look for the good aspects of it instead of seeing then right away or at least within the first few episodes.

If I remember correctly, Shuffle! is actually their fourth best-selling title of the moment. The other four in that Top 5 are DBZ, Afro Samurai, FMA, and Witchblade (unsurprisingly), in no particular order (though it might just be in that order, I don't really remember at the moment).

As for the review, I don't mind it too much, as everybody has their own opinion when it comes to various series. As a Shuffle! fan myself, I did think it was a little too negative, but hey, that's OK! It's his opinion, and I respect that. Reading reviews allows me to see the potential negative aspects of the series that I like, which intrigues me since I rarely often flaws in animation, storytelling, etc.

Besides, the "serious" arcs for the inhuman girls were nice, but were somewhat lacking in the drama department, in my opinion (more so Nerine's than Primula's). I personally thought Lisianthus' arc was the best out of those three, though there is a slight bias in there, as Sia is my favourite Shuffle! girl.

I'm rather curious as to how the reviews for the final two DVDs will turn out. Wink

Take it with a grain of salt. Some people are 'broccoli' reviewers and if a series doesn't have something new or edgy to say, than it's crap. I really liked what Shuffle! did compared to a lot of 'harem' series, even though it doesn't win me any points with the intellectual crowd. Sometimes I don't want thinking in my entertainment, I want popcorn entertainment.

So what parts of his review didn't have some critical merit? I don't see anyone here offering anything in the way of a real dispute of any of the points he made. Was he wrong about the poor pacing of the disc? Was he wrong about some of the animation issues such as badly drawn characters or wasting scenes by just using cheap effect animation?

If you like it then watch it and ignore what other people say; don't make the reviewer out or be close minded or an elitist just because he's pointing out obvious flaws in a show.

People are just angry because the show they like is getting a "D" grade, so no disputing of points is needed, no matter how valid the points may actually be! Wink

For the record, I quite enjoyed watching Shuffle. With that said, just because I liked the show, it doesn't mean the show is good. I for one think the show as a whole is terribly written, and the animation is incredibly inconsistent. A "D" grade is perhaps a tad harsh, but then again that's just my opinion against someone else's.

Alright, there are flaws for this show, I admit it. The flaws I see in this show are some of the voices. Keade and The King of the Gods' voices are bit annoying and I really haven't gotten use to them (However, the voice acting Keade finally sounded pretty good in DVD 5). Sia's voice can get annoying at some points, but not always. Overall, the voice acting isn't perfect, but certianly not worth a D. More of a B or B minus.

On the note of animation, I never saw a problem with it. I don't know what his problem is, but it's rather fine for me. The animation is mostly a B.

The art is perfectly fine to me. All the characters are nice to at and the backgrounds are good. The only problem is the Relm of the Demons isn't very... interesting. So, the art is basically a B or B plus on certain occasions. (If this guy wants to see bad art and animation, he should watch Shin-Chan. I swear that show is ugly, but funny.)

The music, I have to agree. It isn't memorable and doesn't really leave in pack on me. Oh sure, the right music plays at the right moments, but I never really enjoyed it. So a C plus is fine.

The story I have to admit is a bit... out there. The surprises were interesting and pretty neat. However, maybe they should of expanded on them or made us dive a little deeper into it. Some of the storylines are a bit strange, but I can stand and enjoyed most storys. Overall, the story is not breath taking or blows my mind, but I enjoy it. It's simple, sweet and it does not make me cram so much information and items with funny names into my mind while watching it (Shows like that are Naruto and Bleach). I give the show a B and on rare occasions a B-. Though Volume 5's episodes are worth a B+.

The show isn't perfect, what show is? It's just fine to me. That's my thoughts on this DVD and mostly the series overall so far. I don't hate people who don't like the shows I like, but bugs me when they don't seem to have anything good to say.

I like shuffle despite the fact that it's not new or original or anything and it most certainly has flaws . It did change on thing thoughspoiler[ asa won instead of kaede or sia] While I don't usually like to scream out I like this series (I might actually be in denial about it) it's not the worst harem series ever. The reviewer seems to have some deep rooted hatred agabst this series because it is selling well. As a matter of fact I think it's better than the love hina anime.

I've been told that the original Shuffle! game is actually extremely good... truthfully, the anime isn't great, and whether it's even "good" is highly debatable. Though I personally liked Psycho Kaede.

Shuffle is, at its core, an anime based off a game where they tried to do stuff and it didn't really work. ^^; The sequel (kinda) might be a better way to get the story, rather than watching the normal anime. Besides, the ending isn't great, either... I like Shuffle, just not how the anime was done.

The reviewer is as entitled to not like the show as you are to enjoy it. They do not have to placate you or others simply becasue you want it. Maybe you should stop focusing on the bad (as in the reviews you don't agree with) and just focus on the good yourself. As in just watch the show and not care so much about what one person thinks of the show. And FYI they've had 2 different people review various volumes of this show and it has been on Shelf Life. Maybe the reviewers here at ANN simply don't feel the need to tell you what you wanna hear. Or maybe God forbid they might be thinking for themselves and have their own personal opinions. The horror!!! Shocked

Like I mention in my post after that post, I don't dislike people who hate the shows I like. I don't hate reviewers who say the shows I like are bad, but I'm bugged a little about the negativity those the show from this place. Heck, you probably be a little annoyed if your favorite show had such a bad review.

I don't expect this website to tell me what I want to hear and its good for everyone to have their own personal opinions on the show. I just like to hear some positives out of all the negativies. Just my thought. And like I mention in my last post, this show has its flaws. I don't think show is perfect (I never seen a show or movie that was perfect before. The Dark Knight and Monster are awesome, just not perfect), but I just think it is a better than what this reviewer had to say. That's all.
