I'm a suciker for supernatural anime/manga stories. I just might have to check this out. The title makes it sound like something from a Tarentino movie - which isn't a bad thing...

I bought both volumes and I think this grade and review seems about right for the series. I only really got the series because I like Kazuo Umezu's work, but at least it was worth my time to read. I wish, however, that Viz would release more of this guy's work.

CAT EYED BOY is some of the best Umezu I've read so far--he kind of reminds me of Hideshi Hino(Umezu predates him, but I read Hino first) with his cute-grotesque art and his pulp-horror style storytelling. But I really hate those small square panels--Umezu's art can often be genuinely disturbing and frightening, but when cramped into those small square panels it usually just looks silly and cartoonish. Now that it's released in its entirety I'll have to check out DRIFTING CLASSROOM next. I was actually holding off on that one because I had doubts about whether such an old obscure title would be finished here.
