Yeah that's what I was thinking. If I had to guess that anything from this season was going to break into the list, I would've said Code Geass R2 or Soul Eater.
Anyway, go Library War!

As others have said, it's great to see Library War in the top 10.

I don't know about Soul Eater, but I know Code Geass R2 hasn't been getting very good ratings. Though of course the strength of the original series was in DVD sales, IIRC.

Soul Eater's premiere was really bad, actually. It didn't even break a 2.0. But the following week it got in the 2.0s, so thankfully it didn't get prematurely pulled.

So why is Soul Eater that unpopular given its timeslot?

Because innate quality has a habit of shining through - and vice versa.
I'm surprised to see Library War do so well, considering how mundane it is... but then again, considering other stuff on the list maybe it's not so surprising.

My guess is cause the manga's been around for a long time, and it's not exactly the most kid-friendly show (though it has been toned down a tad).

Soul Eater actually airs twice a week--once at 6 in the evening, and again after 2 in the morning. You have to add up the ratings of both showings to get a better sense of how well it is doing. Anyways, the 6:00 premiere of Soul Eater did get above 2.0 (2.4) by itself.

You know, it's quite difficult to any series to reach top 10. They need, at least, a 6% share, which is quite difficult. When I looked at Japanese ratings (and I mean surfing through obscure Japanese webs), most "popular" series won't reach 3% or 4% at its best.

Evangelion got a 10% at its height, and averaged a 7%, but that's an exception. Generally, the only shows with real popularity are intended for young children.
