I'm bored with this CW anime. Can they license something hot again? They're making the same mistakes as Geneon...

Given Funimation's lineup, including One Peice, Tsubasa, xxxHolic, Ouran, Claymore, School Rumble, and other shows either rather popular or based on popular manga, not to mention the ongoing sales of DBZ sets, I think Funimation going down the path of Geneon is rather unlikely. They can afford a niche show or two.
If anything it's wierd seeing Funimation go after anything that isn't either mega popular or rather long. |

Maybe D.Gray-Man will be an AX announcement?

wow
Funimation must have some serious capital to finance all these licenses at once... i remember back in the good ol' days when ADV did same thing back in mid 90's... how i miss those days when anime were new and fresh.... (man i'm getting old) |

Well they did get 3 million back in December. Might not sounds like a lot, but when you get it all of a sudden, to where it was uncertain you would get anything before, it helps boost things tremendously. As for this show itself, I am kinda getting burned out on these mecha shows. In other words, not what I was hoping for. |

Cool, I liked this show, especially with how it spoiler[unceremoniously kills seemingly main characters].
I wouldn't buy it singles, but a thinpak is a must-buy from me. |

So when is Funimation going to start actually releasing stuff like a distributer is supposed to do?
They haven't said anything about Claymore even though they considered it a major license. It doesn't seem like they're trying to hype it at all. I'm also quite interested in seeing Darker Than BLACK but it doesn't look like thats going anywhere. Last edited by Mmsven on Thu May 15, 2008 1:21 am; edited 1 time in total |

Huh, that's pretty cool. I watched a few episodes of this before getting distracted by life stuff, but it's always been one I've wanted to go back and finish, so I guess that opportunity is coming up. I'm typically not a fan of shows that use pure CGI for their giant robots, but they really worked for me here - the designs kind of lent themselves to the method. I'll probably buy it.

The mecha designs were awesome, and the end did provide a pretty neet twist that I enjoyed. Humanity STILL sucks, as it does in most mecha anime.
But, what's with the really lame "hints".........if they are going to announce it in 24 hours anyway, why put up a "secret release"? |

Dragonball + FMA + Afro Samurai = money to burn for a long time to come. |

I can't really say I understand why Funimation would want this one. The episodes are extremely repetitious and it features one of the worst written villains I have ever seen in an anime. Considering what we ended up with they shouldn't have even bothered to pretend like they were trying to develop said villain in the beginning and should have just had a generic supervillain bent on destruction. It wouldn't have made a lick of difference nore would any of the episodes that supposedly developed the characters.
I always said this anime would have been better either longer or shorter. Longer would have maybe allowed for some actually interesting characters that weren't killed off within an episode or two and shorter might have helped to stave off the repetition a little. Though the former would have definitely been better. I mean it when I say that this is one of the worst mecha anime to come out since Gundam Seed Destiny, on par with Dragonaut for lack of anything actually happening and horrid use of characters. Even the mecha combat left something to be desired considering the main character just hops into a mecha she happens to find and it owns up the entirety of the other side single handedly for some reason while the other pilots on her Union side are falling to automated drones without even bothering to pretend to put up a fight. God just thinking about this series now reminds me of just how much it frustrated me. |

To avoid a space-wasting quote, I'll just say that I agree with 90% of Kaioshin_Sama's post. When I think of SnS, the words that come to mind are "decent, watchable, tolerable," not "high-quality anime." Fortunately, it's worth buying for the shower scenes, shoujo-ai elements, and shoujo-ai elements during shower scenes. |
