I wonder if this Uma Musume anime series is going to be more beginner friendly for anyone who has not played the mobile game or seen any on the past Uma Musume anime titles.

The story of Gray Munchster is pretty self-contained and most of the characters from the previous anime series are not gonna appear anyway for a story reasons, so people not need any experience with the story of past anime titles for sure.

But then, it's kinda questionable what you describe as "more beginner friendly" - because the best way to describe any Uma Musume anime title series is the ode for the Japanese horse racing history with the biopic level of the actual events representation, where any season (or in case of Road to the Top/Beginning of New Era, the OVA/movie) is focused on the career of one specific horse (or a couple in case of S3/Road To The Top/Beginning of New Era) - and Cinderella Gray is sure not different from the previous titles in that aspect, except it's leaning even farther being the hot-blooded competetive sport action than the previous ones that mixing the racing aspect with the SoL.
