Well, this should make some of those on the FB thread happy.

They've talked about this title and that they've liked it. I'll have to try it out!

19 minutes? I guess people who are used to sneakily reading it in the bookstore aisles can breeze through it in that time, but
I'd require AT LEAST 30-45 minutes. *likes to take his time when reading*

I can't believe they were able to work this one out. I thought it would never get over here, but now Takaya fans will be able to see some of her other work now. Let me say this, it doesn't stand up to what Fruits Basket has, but it still has that power that makes you want to read it to the end. I'm hoping that people will still be able to catch onto it though.

It's actually only 3 volumes that they're giving away (I read the tiny fine print)... because to win, you have to log into their website at exactly 12:19 p.m., 1:19 p.m., 2:19 p.m., 3:19 p.m., 4:19 p.m., 5:19 p.m., 6:19 p.m., 7:19 p.m., 8:19 p.m., 9:19 p.m., 10:19 p.m., and 11:19 p.m. the entire day, and they're doing it for 3 days.

I already bought my copy (I actually found it a few days before it was supposed to be released.. got lucky..), so I'm not gonna try for a free one...

Hot diggity dog! Er...cat. Er...rabbit. Anyways, I'm pretty darn happy about this! This is news that I've been waiting for ever since I fell in love with Fruits Basket. I really wasn't sure that Tokyopop would publish any of Natsuki Takaya's earlier works because they started with Fruits Basket and might have thought that publishing an earlier work with an earlier art style and earlier story-writing skills (meaning possibly more rough and less polished) might not be very "attractive." Well, I plan to get the first volume of this series in December and I hope that other Fruits Basket fans will as well because I'd love for Tokyopop to release Tsubasa wo Motsu Mono, as I've read more about that title and I find that it sounds quite interesting. Here's to hoping for future news announcements about Tokyopop releasing her earlier titles and, eventually, her current title! It's great to have access to multiple works by one author, or in this case manga-ka, because it's so fun to compare and contrast and see the evolution of their creativity, as well as creative aspects that persist in each successive story. Very Happy

This was an issue I was worried about too, since they don't seem to try and license older titles, unless they were already licensed some time before. None the less, Tokyo Pop is taking a chance with this, which is one thing I'm glad for. It would be exciting to see when they bring about Tsubasa wo Motsumono, but I also want to see if they'll bring over the actual novelization of that series as well.

There's a novelization of Tsubasa wo Motsumono? I've never heard of that before! How interesting. Does it have pictures like light novels usually do? And, if so, are they by Takaya-sensei or another artist? It would be very interesting if Tokyopop released both the manga and the novelization, since they've done that with Trinity Blood, etc. I suppose it would depend upon how successful they have been with the light novels that they've released so far.

Looks like it was a regular novelization, written in three volumes by Takaya Natsuki herself. I'm sure that if Tokyopop were to get the manga they would have to get the novels as well.

That's pretty awesome information, fighterholic, thanks for letting me know. I'd never heard of a novelization of a manga before--usually it always seems like manga based on novels are always being announced, so that was one new thing for me to learn as a fan. But suddenly I learn that a manga-ka has done a novelization of her own manga work? That is so cool! I always wondered if manga-ka ever wrote regular novels or short stories. Now I wonder how rare or how common it is for a manga-ka to do that. I tried looking for info on the novelizations, but my search turned up empty. I seem to remember from the Fruits Basket manga thread that you can read Japanese, fighterholic, so I suppose the information about it might by easier for you to find. This is another reason that I'm happy Tokyopop is bringing over another Natsuki Takaya work: I don't know when or if I'm going to be able to really sit down and learn Japanese. People may complain about Tokyopop translations from time to time, but I feel quite lucky to have access to manga that I can hold in my hands and read in my own language. It certainly is a nice luxury.

I would say so. We have to take what we can get sometimes. Like I said, the fact that Tokyopop can license and get this series out is amazing, and gives hope to the fact that we may be seeing the other series soon. We have only to wait, but something tells me it will not be long.
