The box office theater number is false. It was shown in way more than two yesterdays, I'm in MA and it was in Boston commons, Framingham and a few other AMCs yesterday here.
Even your paragraph contradicts the "two theaters" "GKIDS screened the film on October 4 in New York and Los Angeles, and then on October 6 and 7 more widely in North America" |

Judging by how the viewing I attended on Sunday (not at the initial two theaters) was almost completely full, the figures on Sunday should be a lot higher than that. Maybe the box office numbers for Sunday only count the initial two theaters.

The "two theaters" comment was for Friday specifically; it wasn't meant to include yesterday. The theater I went to yesterday had two showings of it that each had only one or two seats unclaimed, so people definitely knew about it. |

It was sold out within days here in the Midwest.... I hadn't even seen advertisements until after it was already sold out. Usually we don't get anime films at all. I really hope they get more screenings

$688,253 is the currently figure. 535 theaters listed for October 6 (screenings later today will likely the same/similar number of theaters). |

Yeah, I also hope it gets more screenings. It seems to be only a Monday evening screening here in Ottawa as well and I'm definitely not feeling up to going down to the South Keys Cineplex tonight.
