Would this include in the USA? All the other Ghibli movies air on Max here, instead of Netflix (where Ghibli fare seems to be for most other regions).

I’m assuming this info was taken from another anime website instead of the original source.
According to the news release from Netflix (https://about.netflix.com/en/news/grave-of-the-fireflies-streams-september-16), “It will be available in over 190 countries, excluding the US and Japan…”. So as usual, this will not air on Netflix in the US and will most likely air on Max at some point, which has the rights to Ghibli films in the US.

Grave of the Fireflies is the one film that is licensed by Sentai in the US, not GKIDS, so it is usually the odd one out.

It only says "excluding Japan".
"Studio Ghibli’s deeply moving animated film, Grave of the Fireflies, is set to stream exclusively on Netflix starting September 16. It will be available in over 190 countries, excluding Japan, as part of ongoing efforts to expand the platform’s extensive lineup of best-in-class anime from Japan."

This film is not part of the catalog of films distributed by the company (the former Tokuma Shoten library) as Shinchosha owns it instead. Every major film Ghibli stocks is either already up on Max or The Boy and the Heron, which will come next month. Curiously, no sales agent/distributor for the film is mentioned in the press release, so it's unclear if Sentai's involved.

So now even more people can experience their heart being ripped in two (at least in the countries where it will be available on Netflix).

They’ve changed it since my original post as I copied and pasted that from the source. Those crafty swine.

This is one of those movies I think everyone should watch once but I can only watch once and never again.
