This movie was announced way back in 2021 and it's still stuck in production hell?

Because of the nature of Japan's winter season I'm always confused by this wording. Is Winter 2025 in 6ish months or 18ish months?
Since we had heard nothing so far I was already assuming it would release around December or later anyway. |

Shaft production delays used to be something of a standing joke. "Innovative visual style or production short-cut?" (Life gives you lemons, make lemonade.) One could never really be sure.

Pretty sure the Dealy is just a couple of months (Winter starts in December of this year and ends on March of 2025 in Japan) so i don't think it's THAT big of a deal |

Unfortunately when they mention release windows like this, it's separate from the Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall seasons we associate with TV anime schedules. When they say "Winter" they mean December, so this is basically a full-year delay. |

I wonder if this delay has something to do with the (alleged) bad working conditions at shaft. Hiroto Nagata, a top animator at the studio, recently spoke out about this on social media, saying that working at shaft has become "unbearable" for him.
If this delay means that the higher-ups at shaft will easy some of the (alleged) burden that is being put on the staff members, then I am all for it. Sure it pains me to wait even longer for this movie, but making animators (allegedly) suffer for it, just ain't worth it. |

I shouldn't be surprised coming from Shaft.

Some "sources" have taken the original post out of context. Nagata's original wording strongly suggests he is talking about a single production assistant harassing him, and not the studio as a whole being a bad place to be. Of course, it's still an issue it happened at all, and we can only hope that the studio reprimanded or fired the PA in question. |

It's not "alleged", there was a mass exodus from the studio some years back for a reason. |

If someone is suprised, they don't know Shaft.
See you in 2026, friends. |

As far as I know, the film was completed last year. I hope it doesn't end up like ''Coyote vs. ACME''. |
