Yeah, the pacing is a problem. I felt like where season 2 part 1 ended was a stopping point since it resolved the main conflict, so even if it wasn't the end of the story, it would have been ok to leave it there. With part 2 being a new conflict and introducing so much, it feels like it would have been better served being a season 3 with more time.

The second series, as a whole, wasn't as good or fun as the original.

S2 somehow managed to fall into a paradox of spending significant runtime (as the previous season did too) with characters (Anos particularly) monologuing about some new arkane rule or set of proper nouns and ancient lore, whilst also feeling like it was rattling through plot points without really explaining any of them. Its pacing certainly felt way worse than S1.

The smaller scale stuff works well - Lay and Misha are pretty cute together, and perhaps my favourite part of the season is Emilia's arc. But the big stuff around The Selection Gods was just difficult to get invested in, even as Anos and Arcana work pretty well together from moment to moment.

Overall rating: Just ok. Not terrible, especially if you're already invested in the characters from S1. Not something I'd actually spend time recommending to others.

I totally agree about the pacing. I read the web novel and it took the time to explain everything and to show why a new character was or wasn't important.

Overall I think season 2 was a step-down from season 1 but for the most part I think I enjoyed the second half of season 2 more than the first.

It still had problems with pacing, throwing in characters and jargon and twists and expecting the person watching to follow it despite how fast things are progressing...but at least it focused more on the characters and people we care about. We even got more Necrom Sister content! And I love everything with Emilia and MisaxLay, and Arcana was effective for the most part.

Also, is a badly CG'ed tree better than a bunch of badly CG'ed dragons!
