Not surprised by this announcement. It was only a matter of time before Sakamoto Days got an anime. Tomokazu Sugita as Sakamoto is a surprise, though, albeit a pleasant one!

I'm kinda worried about TMS animating it. Dr. Stone had a lot of lazy animation, D.Gray-man Hallow was rushed as heck and the most outstanding work I remember is Megalobox but it was a collaboration if I recall.

Fat Sakamoto is 27 going on 50. Slim Sakamoto doesn´t look a day over 21, about the age he got married. Only in manga.

"Lazy" isn't the right word I would use to describe Dr. Stone's animation. It was just the kind of production to prioritize the consistency over of the designs over anything else.

So is it getting both a Netflix airing and a TV one, or just the latter? Because a weekly TV/Netflix combo would make it a perfect Delicious in Dungeon replacement.

Starting off the New Year with Sakamoto and the gang!

I liked the idea of Takehito Koyasu as Sakamoto, but I can live with Sugita.

Also looks like they're doing a great job adapting the manga into animation.

I think the article is worded in a weird way, the project seems to be the anime, which is coming in 2025.

The original article was probably edited to remove any mention of it: https://www.licenseglobal.com/streaming-tv/netflix-brand-licensing-in-2024-and-2025

At least it isn't Studio VOLN, Blue Exorcist season 3 was a hot mess.

Shonen Jump seems to be terrified of having any protagonist who isn't as young as they can possibly get away with, but they've outdone themselves with Sakamoto. Even compared to other shonen characters, his age is ridiculous. Look at that lovable mouthless man, you mean to tell me he's younger than Goku or Kenshin?

Nah, that dude is middle-aged, I don't care what any info box says.

Sugitan voicing Sakamoto while Houchu narrates. KH fans will love this.
