It's quite a amazing that the building still exists at all, as in 2000 the town mayor was planning to tear down the building and the auditorium. It was only through a lot of work by a local group of people who were again the plan that the building survived. Also by coincidence they finished renovating it and bringing the buildings up to current earthquake building standards when the first series of K-ON! started broadcast.

I remember watching the Rambalac video of his walkthrough in it. I'm glad they have renovated it, and it's being used for tourism and the local economy!
