Suikoden is such a classic JRPG series I've been hearing about for decades, sad to see this news. I haven't played any of them, but I always respected this series for the legacy it brought to this genre.

55 years is far too young to pass away...

I read about this this morning and I'm still in denial.
Suikoden I and II were my safe place and my inspiration creating my own stories. I was thrilled knowing he was back to do Eiyuden, it's spiritual successor. I baked in the kickstarter and he was so into this project that even answered some questions in it's discord. Even my questions were answered.
And now, knowing he'll not see his fans' reactions breaks my heart. Just for two months. Just two damn months...

Rest in peace, Murayama-san. And thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'll enjoy every beat of Eiyuden, I'm sure of it.

Man, this is sad. Suikodens I and II are amongst my top all-time favorite JRPGs. When I found out Murayama was coming back and making Eiyuuden Chronicle, I was ecstatic, to say the least.

All these updates I've been getting as part of the Kickstarter backing always got me even more excited. And it's really tragic he won't be around for the release to see the fans going nuts. Thank you for your legacy, Murayama-sensei. I'm gonna' play the freaking hell out of your final, glorious masterpiece. Crying or Very sad

He departed Konami a month before Suikoden III shipped but the game obviously went gold by then and was of to be pressed on discs. His new one is only 2 months away so the team is mostly busy with bugs and whatnot but dying right before a 6 console re-debut of your career is tough. Journalists will also miss out on the chance to probe deeper into peak Konami history during the press tour as he was at the company during a golden age.

Suikoden was one of the first (internationally released) games on consoles to allow progress to be carried over between games a decade before Mass Effect. Suikoden II even carries over onto the PS2 with III but it´s not that important there. Arc the Lad II did all of that 2 years before Suikoden II to be fair.
