I have a feeling it's popular enough to warrant one, and Sentai Filmworks isn't too shy about dubbing its ecchi shows. Huh, I wonder if the dub dialogue would be able to get away with being uncensored on HiDIVE, come to think of it. Sometimes HiDive does dub the season after, sometimes they're only released when the Bluray releases. We'll see.

I always love shows like this where especially here, all the preview guides always rate it a 1 or 0 stars and then it turns out to be a gem of the season.

Similar to Onemai, time will tell, but its hilarious to always see that in hindsight because "urgghh titties and fetishes and age questionablity" never stop a true series from being good, a la Made in Abyss.

As a bonus, in the spirit of HIDIVE getting the uncensored AT-X version of this show, click here for an extra review pic, guaranteed to contain 100% uncut material, too hot for ANN's front page!

Like everything on HiDive, it's going to be six months to a year before it's even a possibility.

Anime of the season? Out of all the anime airing, this is the one I most look forward to every week.

As someone who was unfamiliar with both this and Chained Soldier before the season began, Chained Soldier was the one being hyped up by everyone. But it looks like the community rallied behind Gushing instead. Discussion for Chained Soldier is sparse in comparison.

Not necessarily true. The most recent installment of The Eminence in Shadow was same-day simuldubbed, and it's not unusual for the dubs of obviously-popular series to air with only a few weeks of lag. (This happened with Oshi no Ko, IIRC.) Some of the more popular titles from last season (Ragna Crimson, The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy) already have dubs starting to air, too. It's not like Crunchyroll doesn't dub things on several months of delay, either.

If the series is willing to explore those angles in other characters or propel itself into a broader (much better, in my opinion) possible joke of the whole of magical girl/villainess combat being over-complex BDSM roleplay.

The latter point hadn't occurred to me, but upon reflection I think the series is kinda moving in that direction already.

If it gets far enough, we'll get to see where the series starts exploring the intersection between kinks, sex, and romance. It still stays the same kinking dumb fun, but it begins to get more nuanced about it.

Im with you on this one. Between the amount of engagement this show is getting on reddit, and the score it's getting on (yes, I know I know) MAL, there's something to this that's got people locked in. We've had many other ecchi shows in the past, and they usually stay pretty niche but people are really enjoying this one. Maybe the humor isn't landing with the reviewer; but it's probably the most fun I'm having this season with a show.

I mean, Utena's delivery of her lines are worth the price of admission alone

Hidive / Sentai from what I've seen only dubs shows that qualify in the following categories:

- Popularity, Show with plenty of hype (Eminence in Shadow , Oshi no Ko) dub will usually start during the shows simulcast , dub cost partially funded by both the licensor and Sentai, which explains why Kadokawa was so involved with Eminence in Shadow S2's same day dubcast.

- Streaming Numbers (Dangers in my Heart, Dreaming Boy is a Realist, Farming Life in Another World, Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy etc.) These dubs usually start after the simulcast ends, and are usually done, imo, to get extra Blu-Ray sales when it comes out in that format.

- Campaigning, The only reason why ToLove Ru got dubbed was because everyone was asking for it. (Well why didn't Familiar of Zero S 2-4 get dubbed then? Because when Sentai Re Released S1 on Blu-Ray, hardly anyone bought it, so they didn't take the risk on S 2-4, that's just me though)

-As always this is my opinion, and feel free to ignore it if you wish...

It's kind of spoiling a manga chapter still not adapted in the anime.

As a fan of the manga, I will say that this adaptation got way more love than I expected. Utena's voice is pretty much perfect, and while most of the additions are for the sake of increasing the lewd factor, they also went out of their way to go more in depth with the Utena and Kiwi date to make it feel more romantic. They even did it in a way to hint at Kiwi's toku/mecha interest, which is mostly just a rarely relevant background detail. Definitely one of my favorites this season.

This analysis seems to make sense (though I'm not really sure if there's a way to confirm if the streaming numbers are high for those particular titles).
