Well, this is not exactly the musical style I expected for Jigokuraku, but OK, I guess? I hope the opening visuals will match the music better than this trailer, though.

Haven't really ever heard much talk about the manga for this one, but the trailer here certainly piqued my interest. Would this be an action-battle series working with Buddhist themes / cosmology? A fantasy Japan setting, like a samurai era?

You're quite close actually. The monsters shown in trailer are based on Buddhism but the overall power systems and themes are heavily based on Taoism and the whole thingy about there being 6 elements and corresponding types of chi. This is an action-heavy show and battles play a part, but not in the traditional shounen jump way. Assuming they don't butcher it by stuffing X volumes into Y amount of episodes, you'll be in for a ride. I recommend picking up the manga if possible. Only 13 volumes and now fully out from Viz.

April 1.... What if it's instead Mappa animating Pop Team Epic season 3?!

A really good trailer to get me to watch. Now to see the actual episodes. Song is fire, btw.
