I honestly thought that State of Play was insanely weak. The only new thing I liked was Humanity. SF6 and RE4make were cool, but we knew about those. The rest felt like a waste of time.

I'm pretty sure WB got caught being late to the live service party twice in row now with its super hero games. Gotham Knights pretty clearly was one and that aspect got pulled late enough that the mechanics are still there and don't really add anything to the game. I'm guessing that since pulling the live service aspects didn't work there, WB decided it might as well stick with it this time. I think the thing that is more disappointing to me than that is how the four playable characters basically play the same way. 3/4 aren't super powered, so I can kind of understand why, but from a game play perspective, playable characters aren't as meaningful if the only vary from each other a little bit.

I'll be honest, the big hook that has me still interested is that this game takes place years after Arkham Knight. Considering how that ended, I'm pretty curious to see how they worked Batman into it, and I'll be sorely disappointed if that doesn't get much explanation.

She's got this energy to her and her design that makes me think of Third Impact.

Jean-Karlo has either combined together the subtitle to two of Street Fighter III's versions, 2nd Impact (Giant Attack) & Third Strike, or he's inadvertently created a crossover between Street Fighter & Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Either one looks to be rather plausible, honestly.

If anyone has an interest in Wild Arms 2- I highly recommend it. The visuals won't have aged terribly well (obviously,) but it is an interesting game that wants to look at interesting themes, characters and ideas. It's got a lot of content, some character customization options, and a fair amount of endgame optional bosses if that is your jam. It also has the worst English localization I can recall in my gaming career. Just...fair warning on that front.

There was too much focus on VR. Sony should have just done a dedicated VR State of Play, doing it this way felt like a bait and switch.

Could someone please explain to DC that it's okay to tell more than one story? Not EVERY project they do has to about Superman turning evil. It's so played-out at this point.

Okay, this one's on me; I went and malaproper'ed the title. Happens to me all the time; I once kept confusing Captain Herlock: Endless Odyssey and SRW OG: Endless Frontier for ages and kept calling the "Herlock" anime "Endless Frontier". It's been fixed, sorry for the gaff!

You already have the problem of the fact that this game was setup years prior with the post credits scene from Arkham Origins involving Waller approach Deathstroke with the idea of forming Task Force X……guess who isn’t involved in the cast as far as we know?

And when you fight Deathstroke in Arkham Knight nothing is mentioned about Task Force X if I recall correctly.

Given the fact it’s only happened once before in the video games not really?

And even then in the original Injustice they brought in the main universe Superman to defeat Injustice Superman which in of itself isn’t original either.

As any Superman vs Zod (whose a playable character in the first game) fight is pretty much a Superman vs Superman fight,

Among live 2d use, Path of the Midnight Sun uses them pretty well for battle animations in a visual novel engine. There's some neat scrolling effects too. Good visual novel RPG.

Also while I'm mentioning good indies, Coppy Kitty has a 75% off discount on Steam. It's a Megaman-like shooter with a cat, but it's got a very in-depth combo system that's a blast.

Suicide Squad being a “been there, done that” story with a (sigh) season pass (because that worked so well for Avengers), wouldn’t have been half as annoying if it wasn’t Kevin Conroy’s final performance as Batman. He deserved a better final product to go out with.

Humanity being some kind of 3D Lemmings thing was great.

And yet, weird as it was, Legend of Dragoon really struck a chord with some people. Sony never did make a second one, so like all of its other first-party experiments like Parappa the Rapper, Vib Ribbon, Gravity Rush, and Patapon, Sony said "Screw it!" and chased other trends until it wound up where they are now: re-releasing The Last of Us for the umpteenth time.

Didn't all these get sequels that flopped? I feel like they were all given second chances, unlike LoD... Though I never liked LoD much, even back in 2000 or so.

All good. I've called Third Strike "Third Impact" plenty of times in the past, and it's probably my favorite SF game.

I'm going to assume that's just some lip-service they threw in at the last second because they saw no one liked Gotham Knights but remember people liked Arkham Asylum so they're trying to get people to think this will totally be like the good Batman games even though it looks nothing like the Arkham series.

Nothing really caught my eye in the State of Play besides SF6 and RE4. RE4 is looking better than 3 and doesn't seem like it's cutting any sections like 3 did but I do think it's still way too serious for its own good.

And we also have Shinji Mikami's departure from Tango Gameworks, which is something I'm surprised didn't happen sooner as Mikami said himself he was always intending to leave at some point. Wherever he goes, he's left quite the mark. And probably good he leaves now, considering how badly Microsoft has been embarrassing itself over the past year.

And next week we have a Pokemon Day Direct. Making a Pokemon Conquest II manifest...

Avengers didn’t have a season pass. Unless you’re talking about Midnight Suns.

Like Multiversus or Crisis on Infinite Earths?

This would make sense if Gotham Knights itself shared continuity with the Arkham games which everyone knew going in it didn’t and the shared universe bit with KTJL hadn’t been mentioned months before people got a closer look at Gotham Knights and started turning on it in droves.

Did you watch the trailer on mute? some of the banter between Luis and Leon and even the segment with Mike who quips comes off pretty cheesy in addition some of that stuff was not in the original game.

while MK11 hasn't seen that kind of invigoration. Folks are definitely clamoring for the next big Neverrealm Studios fighting game, and I can't help but hope we get that soon.

Quips aren't the only kind of humor. Resident Evil used to channel B grade horror movies. Cheesy is a different style than having characters make some quips.
