I didn’t like that Jenn Wong was voicing both Hizuru and Ryuunosuke. Not only that, but she was voicing adult Ryuunosuke.

I remember being superconfused at first about the MC suddenly talking to himself to the point I was reminded of Cloud's conflicting personality from FF7.... that and the villain twist at the end with full commentary about the Remake, Sephiroth and Jenova.... The author really likes Final Fantasy VII.

What a misstep on Disney’s part holding STR back. This could have been a breakout show indeed. It’s one of my anime of the year candidates.

Thanks for doing this TWIA! I was hoping it would get that treatment, so people can see how good it is at being what it aims to be, and hopefully try it themselves and get hooked on the series. It's great thriller/mystery with likable cast, good main group, and fearsome in good way opponents.

Also Ushio is goddamn great, my fave and often a source of much needed levity in this often sad, gloomy and bloody story, but her and her shadow's flashback episode show also that she's much more than just impulsive moron. She's basically the shonen protagonist character that happens to be (not-so-fridged) main love interest. Writer/detective lady is also great, she and her brother could be main characters in different retelling of this story, which is very good quality.

God, was this a fantastic anime start to finish. And it just gets better from here. Definitely my AOTY for 2022.

Too bad Disney fumbled its release and continues to do so with other shows.

Plus these anime series don't really fit with Disney. I could understand them licensing something like Precure or Love Live.
