The Yokai Hunter introduced in the second episode is absolutely hilarious. Shame he’s only been introduced in what is presumably the final season.
As for the Psycho Helmet Leader that was introduced towards the end of the episode, I can’t tell whether it’s Dimple in disguise or something else entirely. Regardless, it’s still creepy as hell |

The first two episodes felt like parodies to Shaman King especially considering the narration.

Mob is back! And honestly, you can hardly tell that it has a different director for this season, so it's definitely in good hands. I also love that we have another paint-on-glass animated ED that mirrors the first season's.

The episode was amazing. At first I was afraid the anime would become too dramatic but the handling of the fight scene was impressive. Then while it was obvious that Mob's brother was being brainwashed, the director really nailed it with Reigen's change. Reigen completely kept his normal personality, coming really scary as a result, especially when he blames Mob for the cult. I think it was one of the most powerful scenes of this season. It sure is strong because we see the impact on Mob who decides to confront Dimple after two seasons of him wanting to avoid conflict in his life.

Anyone else get creeped out by the latest episode's second eyecatch? All those psycho helmet leader faces replacing the faces of Mob's friends and family... Creepy

The encounter is fun but Dimple's motivation is something that has been done to death in anime. I think even 80s Seiya did it. Now the final scene sure gave us a big cliffhanger. I hope the arc ends.

You're absolutely right; but the way it's been repurposed for this arc of Mob Psycho and what the writing is doing with the characters is what makes gives this take its compelling edge |

Dimple's motivation is cliche, but I thought that was part of the point? That his great dream is just a superficial fantasy, and so our now somewhat matured Mob savages it as meaningless and empty. But Dimple has nursed it inside himself without reflection for so long; he can't just let it go, and rages at Mob for disrespecting something he's made such a core part of his identity, even if he put it at his core childishly and without reflection.

Reviewer missed the reference, the God Form Dimple was a reference to Golden Frieza and comes amid the Dragonball style fight. Also the reference carried through, Frieza HATES monkeys...

We actually finally got a bit of a introspection into Tsubomi character by Dimple and it's really interesting, her being a rather strong person who can hold to her own values despite what everyone around her says also makes me believe that at this point Mob isn't going to get together with her, at least not after spending significant time together.
Also I believe you kinda underrating Dimple role as a character and in the story. He was crucial in the Mogami arc and Claw arc, saving Mob multiple times and helping him despite being evil spirit and having a dream that clashes with Mob values. The more important part, that after all his compared to Ritsu and Reigen he always played the role of the one who was brutally honest with Mob even if truth was harsh regarding his feelings and social integrations, whenever it was Mob getting tricked by thugs or telling him he isn't actually that popular in this season. Even in this episode Dimple doesn't really try to hide his intentions and genuinely hopes Mob comes to his side, I believe him being open in last minutes of the episode and berating Mob's awful shirt was turning point for the better for both of them. |

Absolutely; which is what makes this conflict so great and why I'm impressed with the way ONE is able to articulate all the nuances with the character writing without needing to outright TELL the audience what it's trying to explore and comment on. I find this and the last to arcs to be some of ONE's best work in the series |

I'd argue that what makes ONE's manga so much fun to read, and Mob Psycho especially, is how he takes various genre tropes that have absolutely been "done to death" over the years, and then applies a (very) refreshingly grounded, down-to-earth lens to them. Like, at it's heart, Mob Psycho is an analysis and subversion of the whole supernatural power fantasy thing that pretty much all other shounen manga relies on. Mob is such an engaging protagonist precisely because he's being offered the same sorts of familiar narrative beats as Goku and Naruto and Ichigo and Yusuke and Gon and Luffy... only he rejects the premise. |

Came here to say this. I immediately thought of Golden Frieza when I saw that. Anyway, this ep was spectacularly animated, and it's made all the funnier considering where it takes place. |

Wow, they actually made Dimple really cool and sympathetic. Bravo. I wasn't expecting such a downbeat ending.
