I'm guessing that they probably will include Ryuunosuke in this version depending on how much of the manga they skip.

that's prototype Ranma right? i hope.they appear in the anime, i remember other Takahashi related projects getting canned, like the maia9n ikoku movie series and the Ranma ova revival.

Sorta. She is very adamantly a cis girl, but her dad refuses to acknowledge it. Also she's absorbed some macho stubbornness from her upbringing -- one of her first chapters ends with her classmates getting her the sailor uniform she wanted, but she decides she won't feel like she's earned the right to wear it until she beats her dad in a fight.
You can tell Takahashi loved the concept, though, even without looking ahead to Ranma, because she got a lot of use out of Ryuunosuke.
