The story follows Beast Tamer Rein, who is banished from the hero's party, because he can only use animals.

Ignoring that "Kicked out of Hero's party because [blank]" is becoming more and more prevalent, this premise doesn't make much sense to me. How is a Beast Tamer (ESPECIALLY in a fantasy world) not an asset to an Adventuring party?

For most of the series in this trope/sub-genre, it's because some combination of A) The power is subtle or non-combat related, so the party doesn't realize how much of an effect it's having; B) The person being kicked out was *always* part of the party, so the party's standards of what is "good" is distorted; and C) The MC doesn't show/gain their true strength until after they leave the party.

For another series, "Banished from the Heros Party, I decided to live a quiet life in the countryside", the cause was solidly cause "A": The MC wasn't personally very powerful, but he was the grease that kept the party functioning: The tactician, the organizer, the negotiator, the diplomat, etc. He was extremely good at all those things, but his combat ability was comparatively low.

In this series case: It is all three things. He was in the party from the beginning, so they assumed all beast tamers could do what he can. He mostly used his powers for support (beasts of burden to carry their stuff, birds/mice to scout out areas, etc). And lastly, he gained a absolutely MASSIVE power buff once he formed a bond with the cat girl (in this setting, her particular type of cat person is extremely rare and they're also stupid strong) but that was after he left the party.

It doesn't make his party any less stupid, but it at least makes sense.
