I remember when they complained about SMITE but then SMITE introduced Shiva as such an OP character that you'll immediately bail if you see him in the opponent's team and that just shut them up.
In India Shiva isn't just some mythological figure in India, to Hindus he's the god they worship almost daily. To give a perspective, well he's as big as a figure as Jesus. Perhaps even bigger since he's one of the 3 gods that are responsible for all creation according to what hindus believe, so when they say that the show should "not trivialize" him then they mean it literally. Every year millions of hindu travel 100s of kilometers for "kanwar yatra", an annual pilgrimage dedicated to shiva. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanwar_Yatra

BUT these religious leaders should let the writers have some creative freedom. If anyone here has watched the show Preacher they should know what can be done if the writers have creative freedom.

Shiva is a very peaceful god for the most part, so I can see why the Hindus won't like this, but ffs, let creators create.

so, they ask to not trivialize their own god but is no problem trivializing gods from other cultures or big historical/legendary figures? either ask for not trivializing no one or shup up

^^^
If they did ask to not trivialize all deities, the response would be "don't speak on behalf of other religions/cultures" or something like that Rolling Eyes

Hindus do take their religion seriously. Making requests and urging companies to reconsider when their Deities are used in fiction for entertainment purposes is what one would expect.

I believe it's also about how you portray them. When you see someone you liken to your own Father/Mother trivialized or ridiculed like this, you're bound to get hurt and upset.

Guess we should be grateful that Odin, Zeus, and Ra are not worshipped. The world would be much poorer place without Norse, Greek, and Egyptian mythology.

These calls for censorship aren't accomplishing anything productive.

Besides Netflix ain't censoring much of anything these days. They like the publicity surrounding controversial titles way too much. When they defended Cuties, they've opened the floodgates to anything even remotely less controversial, it's basically don't make snuff or something worse than Cuties and you'll be fine.

You can say that about any religion. This isn't anything but an attempt on censorship.

Honestly can't remember if he won the fight or not an if he did was it on a marginal win? Wonder if if he trivially stomped his opponent would they be this upset? Wonder how they feel about Shiva overall in GranBlue atm. His raid fight is soloable now, both his fire and light versions are meh unless you set it up right along with his summon being something so so. They clearly want him to be this OP ubergod that will donkey kong smash everyone else.
