I haven't played Yugioh in ages, thought I could get back into it with Master Duels.
Played a game where I summoned a monster and set a trap card and ended my turn. My opponent then proceeds to use spell cards after spell cards while constantly drawing more and more cards. They even summoned 3 monsters at once and then proceeds to sacrifice them so they can draw more cards. Their first turn lasted over 10 minutes and they then successfully got all of exodia in their hand and killed me in one move.
At that point I knew that Yugioh isn't worth getting into anymore. Uninstall, it's a broken pay to win card game.

It should definitely be noted that leaks are showing that they are going to be having Classic/Fusion/XYZ modes coming, along with a good set of other features.
Overall, it feels like the Yugioh game that we've been needing for a while. There are however certainly some growing pains, and players that have not seen the game since the GBA or DS days will absolutely either need to watch some video guides or wait for the Classic mode to be added.

The game has changed alot over the years. It's a given that the meta & strats used will change. Obviously, if you're jumping right into it without even basic knowledge of the new card types, you will most definitely get destroyed by the more experienced players. It's not about being P2W or F2P. The game gives u enough free gems to craft one whole deck & a side one if you're resourceful enough.

I haven't paid attention to the meta of Yugioh since college, but I hear it's basically one-turn/first-turn win decks or nothing.

You're right about me not knowing how the meta changed but I do know that the change ain't good. It's not a fun card game anymore. How is it fun to have decks that can literally end you in one turn? That is stupid and broken.

There's plenty of ways to deny and shut down your opponent's set-up and combos. Sometimes people high-role their meme OTK deck, sure, but it's hardly unstoppable if you know what to do.
As far as F2P/P2W goes, that's just all card games in general. It's not a cheap hobby, though at least on Master Duel you can breakdown unwanted cards and craft what you do want so it has that advantage going for it over paper where you have to drop around $40-$50 on an Accesscode Talker if you don't do booster boxes. An official digital YGO client that isn't Duel Links is a much welcome thing to have, especially in the pandemic era where in-person events are cancelled or unwise to do.

Game have evolved for years and it's for the better otherwise the game would've died.
Also, yugioh always had broken strategies even in the "old days". You either learn and adapt or complain like a boomer.

Glad there's Master Duel for those who like to play the original Yu-Gi-Oh! game digitally but I'll probably stick to Duel Links for now since I'm more into roleplaying with the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime characters than to play the game as myself.
