Unless if the magazine is going to be cheaper than the original, I think I'll stick to having the mag imported to me.

A lot of places charge, some crazy upped prices for these kinds of mags. Even ordering though diamond they cost a lot (something like 25 bucks a pop). So for a lot of people, even if the mag is 12 or 13 bucks that's still cheaper than imports for a lot of people.

Ooh, awesome! Although it's too expensive for me to really wear, I love Gothic Lolita fashion, and I've always wanted to read one of the mooks. I'll be picking one up, particularly if they do a good job of giving tips on how to get things related to the fashion here in the US (and patterns...I'd ADORE having some patterns in sizes suited to americans).

Yeah, I noticed the shipping was higher than the mag at almost all places, makes me happy I have a cousin over in Japan who has been buying these for me, and shipping them to me for almost nothing.

This sounds great! I absolutely love gothic lolita. But I'm a little worried about the price, judging from what other's have said...

AAAHHHH WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2008?!?! *dies* At least import some this year!!
I don't care about the price. It's like 25-30 at cons anyway, and I hate not being able to read any of it.

Hell. Yes.
Hell no, if it's gonna be more than $25, which is what I pay for the imports. I've seen SHOXX and Cure in Hot Topic for $15-$16, so if G&LB is around that, it won't be a big problem. Are they gonna offer a subscription option?
Anyways, I've been waiting years for this, so either way I'm happy.

Hmm, this is going to be interesting seeing as what the the EGL bible is, and it's content. For the most part, magazine is just a bunch of fashion ads and photoshoot specials promoting various Japanese gothic fashion lines, most of which don't ship out to North America. So I'm wondering that by "hybrid" they mean instead of all those Japanese fashion designer adds, we'll be seeing American ones instead. Like for example: Hot Topic having their own "look what you can buy to get this look" section.
And I'm not familar with copyrights, but CAN Tokyopop even use the original Japanese ads in a North American translation?
This magazine could end up paying for itself if Tokyopop goes to the biggest Gothic clothing brands in North America and throws the idea of advertising in their magazine at them, but then if they do just that there will be a lot of dissapointed fans buying the magazine for model idols like Kana. I can see the die hard Gothic Lolita fans now crying bloody elegant murder over all the original EGL pictures lost.
And then I also have to wonder about all those pictures of the random girls in Harajuku or where ever those street photos are taken. Basically they go out in the weekend when all those kids are dressing up, take a picture at a particularly interesting outfit, and then list where the girl got all the items. Are we going to be seeing these exact pictures, directly translated, or will there be an American version, let's say all the gothic lolis that show up at cons?
I'm betting on some alternative American gothic makeup tips as well, and you can bet for sure Hot Topic WILL be selling this.

I'm more interested on what "changes" TOKYOPOP will do to the magazine. It's apaprent that DJ Milky wants to push his "pet project" Princess Ai, and what a betetr way to do it that shove it into a EGL tome?? Plus TP doesn't really have a very good track record in the translation department.
